I liked the movie, I guess.

I was halfway through watching my favorite show when I realized the whole romance between the girl and the guy was moving way too fast... they barely even met, he just saw her playing music once, and suddenly they’re practically inseparable. It feels like they hung out twice and by the third time they're already living together or something...

The guy has leukemia; he doesn't even know if he'll make it to tomorrow.

Honestly, it wouldn't even be a shock if he started sobbing during the very first scene. ☕

Thanks for the suggestion, dear, 🙂 but...

...I find myself completely exhausted by the endless parade of teenagers in cinema lately. To be blunt, I find them—and their adolescent romances—utterly distasteful. I remember barely being able to sit through that Swedish film *Let the Right One In*, which turned out to be a surprisingly chilling, anti-Hollywood experience. It was actually a quite decent take on vampire lore, stripped of those tired romantic tropes where everyone is just "beautiful and tragic."

Ever since then, I have been searching for something with that same gritty atmosphere, but based on what I am seeing, I suspect that might be the last vampire film I ever bother to watch.

Honestly, though, Byzantium is such an incredible movie. I can't recommend it enough!

On the other hand, if you're looking for something else, you should definitely give Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) or maybe even Near Dark (1987) a shot. 🤷

Is that movie on NBC tonight? Is it actually worth watching or should I just skip it?

Now that I realize he actually directed *Interview with a Vampire* (which, side note, I still haven't sat down to watch, even though everyone raves about it), I can pretty much safely say he’s one of the absolute best at handling vampire themes.

And this movie just proves it. Everything hits. The whole vibe, the casting (Gemma and Saoirse are basically perfection here), the atmosphere, the cinematography, that killer soundtrack... it’s got this modern yet somehow timeless feel. The visuals? Incredible. Just everything, really...

It’s sitting right up there with Bakjwi (2009)

You seriously need to watch Interview with the Vampire! It's awesome.

Lestat and the Queen are freaking legendary.

The pacing is pretty all over the place—it kicks off with a bang and ends with a rush, but the middle feels a bit thin. Still, you stay hooked because you're constantly waiting to see what kind of curveball they’ll throw at you next. It’s full of twists that totally catch you off guard. Honestly, I didn't even realize why the story kept looping back to the beginning until I was about two-thirds of the way through. I bet more than half the audience would call this boring or unfocused since there isn't constant action, but I liked it. Personally, I'd give the script a solid 6.5/10, but the acting and the overall vibe? That's an 8.5/10 for me.

It’s a total breath of fresh air that doesn't feel like your typical modern vampire flick. I’d call it an old-school vampire movie featuring two fiery women: one who’s out causing chaos and another more reserved type who finds some "damaged" guy and decides to step in and help him. But that's not even the main draw.

I rewatched that film a few weeks back, and I have to say, it's a perfectly fine way to kill some time. I'd give it a 7/10. 😵 😵
