It’s kind of ridiculous to try and pull off a love story set in that tiny window between a guy becoming a gladiator and everything blowing up—love at first sight followed by sudden death within a day or two, maybe a week tops. The opening sequence showing how the lead ends up a gladiator is pretty pointless. And that whole subplot where the general is obsessed with the lead actress? Totally forced. The entire plot is just one cliché after another without any actual logic...
Titanic? 🤷
It’s basically a love story with a pretty grim ending... talk about instant attraction—love at first sight happens in just four days between the high society types and the commoners. It’s that exact same dynamic you see between Cal and Rosa. Honestly, Pompeii is just a total carbon copy of the Titanic concept, only you add an actual, literal catastrophe to the mix...

Sometimes I catch myself wondering... when I'm reading through your comments—and those from other self-proclaimed "experts" around here—if everyone is just losing their sense of taste and standards altogether...
Anderson is one of those "good enough" directors who can actually pull off a decent flick when he wants to—I mean, look at *Soldier-Event Horizon*... that was solid. So why wouldn't I dig this? It’s pure, mindless popcorn entertainment, and honestly, it kept me entertained. This whole wave of snobbery is really starting to grate on my nerves—are people here just losing their sense of taste and basic criteria altogether? And yet, everyone's already rushing out to see it...
Predictable acting, a totally cliché script where you pretty much know the ending before the opening credits even finish rolling—just the same dumb plot we've seen a hundred times before. Honestly, everything was just so predictable and incredibly boring... It’s one of those loud, overproduced movies that seems to think the audience is brain-dead, assuming we'll all just fall into a trance because of some flashy costumes and mediocre CGI disasters. In reality, it was so tedious I couldn't even make it past the first 15 minutes. I ended up fast-forwarding through the rest just to preserve my own mental health... Thank God I didn't go to the theater for this one; I definitely wouldn't be regretting wasting money on a ticket.
The movie is called Pompeii. I mean, what exactly did you think was going to happen? That Kirk and Spock were gonna roll up in the Enterprise and just stop the eruption... right? 🤷 Yeah, yeah, yeah... fifteen minutes tops... I don't really buy it though, because obviously, you know the details of the movie way better than I do...
