Hey there... I'm running into a bit of a headache with my PC. Basically, it just gave up on me last Thursday and won't boot into my OS anymore. I was running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, but now it just won't load. I tried popping a disc into the DVD drive to reinstall, but when I get to the installation screen, it's not even showing my two hard drive partitions. I actually had a similar issue once before, but I fixed it by downloading some drivers, putting them on a USB, and then everything worked fine. This time, though, it won't even read the drivers from the USB... it just says "setup cannot format this disk." I can't seem to format the HDD at all. I've already tried installing Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 Ultimate, but nothing works.🤷Does anyone have any ideas on how to help? Thanks so much! 🙂

Here are my specs: Motherboard: ASUS motherboard
RAM: 4x512mb ddr400 = 2gb
CPU: Intel Athlon 64 3800 2.4ghz
PSU: Generic 350w
GPU: Vtx3D radeon hd 3450 512mb.

Have you given Startup Repair a shot yet? If that’s a bust, maybe just wipe the C drive entirely—create a new partition and then go ahead and format it.

Hey everyone, I’ve tried everything I can think of to get this working live, but I’m just hitting a wall. It starts up, gets into the system, and then the whole thing just freezes up on me... I honestly don't know who's losing their mind here anymore. 😁

Who’s actually stepping up here? Look, just try to walk me through what's happening—more clearly this time—and where exactly you're hitting a wall. Which drivers were you pulling off the web?

So... I pop the Windows installation disc into the DVD drive and close it up 😁
everything seems totally fine at first. It goes through the initial steps and eventually hits the part where I need to format the drives, but that’s where things get weird. It keeps giving me an error saying the setup couldn't find any hard drives or something like that. It just won't locate the HDD at all, even though if I check my BIOS, it clearly shows a 250GB Seagate drive right there
. I tried plugging in a USB drive because I have the SATA interface drivers on it, hoping that would help. I find the right driver and click to load it, but then it just sits there loading for maybe thirty minutes, and after all that waiting... nothing. It's just like before—no hard drive in sight
. Sometimes, when it's trying to detect the HDD during the installation, the whole thing just freezes up. If I wait a little bit (maybe 15 minutes or so), it eventually starts working again, but it's super unpredictable. I'm honestly kind of stuck and not sure what else I can try
.

Hey there! So, after about three months, I finally ran into a bit of a snag!! 😁
Basically, my hard drive gave up on me, so I swapped it out for a new 500GB one.
Everything installed fine, though I ended up using a custom Windows XP Darklite SATA version because the standard Windows installer just wouldn't recognize the SATA controller... but I've run into another little headache since I got this ASUS motherboard. Every time I try to install Windows, I get hit with that massive pop-up asking for SATA drivers. I was wondering if there's a way to set this once and for all so I don't have to deal with that driver prompt every single time I reinstall? Maybe it's just how the motherboard is set up? Any help would be great, thanks!

Hey, why don't you just grab a screenshot and upload the image? Or, if that's too much trouble, just type out exactly what the error message says...

Benjamin King2, grab that SATA boot driver from the ASUS ROG Maximus site and just bake it right into your Windows XP install using this: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
