Honestly, that whole client-based, clique-heavy approach some people are pushing right now is exactly what caused this mess on Reddit in the first place.
I've always kept my distance from the mods, and I'm keeping it that way. I don't want to play nice with the other users either, because if life has taught me anything, it's that you gotta avoid that too—especially on "public" platforms like this.
In a way, Murmillo and Bloomer became victims of that exact mindset; they basically boxed themselves in. You can't go around picking fights with the entire moderation team just to be stubborn, man. I'm still saying it: when you're dealing with sensitive topics, you have to be strict.
And it blows my mind how supposedly smart people can't grasp that this is a public forum, not some private group chat for a few buddies.
Look, I'll be the first to sign off on their "liberation," BUT only if they fix that one problematic section. (I really don't have the energy right now to explain the full timeline to people who weren't there, and that history goes way back into the archives of this Reddit community—I've been lurking here for about 2 years now).
What, should everyone start stigmatizing briskhound2 just because he's sticking to certain principles that, if you look at the big picture, are totally fine? At the end of the day, he's just a regular user and he's gonna keep posting on this forum regardless.
It would be best if I sat down and explained the whole timeline to every single one of you individually, depending on how much of a joke I feel like making of you.
I mean, I've been punished for way more minor stuff than this.
Buddy, don't go there. ☕
But this really is a private mess. 🤷 If it weren't, the partial restructuring would actually follow the rules. Of course, that would reveal there's no reason for a partial split, but plenty of reason to replace the current admin structure—since they acted entirely on their own whims, without transparency, without good intentions, and most importantly, while breaking their own rules.
I'm not changing my ways because I don't even know what behavior of mine is supposedly "problematic." Do you really want to be known as the guy constantly making excuses for the current administration?
