God and Mary help us

Since I first joined this forum, I’ve never once hit the report button, filed a complaint, or reached out to the moderation team with suggestions on how to run things. I respect people's time, and I know you have to listen to absolute nonsense from idiots sometimes. Honestly, the characters here trying to enforce "justice" over a few minor infractions have always been laughable to me. But the continuous degradation of the one specific sub-forum where I actually write became so unbearable that, for the first time ever, I felt compelled to step up. Though, given how sloppy this entire site has become, I’m not exactly expecting any miracles.

The reason I’m starting this thread is the status of user Cinque. It looks like he’s been permanently banned following some minor incident, despite being one of the most high-quality and productive contributors to the Soccer sub-forum for years. He genuinely makes this place better with his posts. We've seen plenty of removals like this before, and while some had at least a hint of logic behind them—unlike this—it seems the rest of the active users feel the same way.

None of this would even be an issue if one of the 17 moderators had the decency to explain themselves. If we knew the reasoning, maybe we could see some sense in it—maybe understand what actually constitutes a "gross violation" of the rules versus what doesn't. Instead, when asked for clarity, the entire moderation team just stays silent. They offer zero answers. It’s classic behavior for this board: handing out warnings, deleting posts, and banning people without a shred of communication. They act like they’re above it all.

If none of the moderators can manage this sub-forum properly—and moderation shouldn't just be about banning and deleting—then have enough integrity to just step down.

It would be quite nice if someone actually bothered to provide an answer.

A permanent ban just for some fan banter? Come on, people, this is a Soccer forum; if you applied those rules consistently to everyone here, we’d be left with maybe three users still active, all of them probably appealing bans from an NBC drama special.

I’m stepping in to support this appeal. While I haven't voiced any opinions regarding the moderation team's work or their specific rulings before, and I don't intend to start now, I simply want to emphasize that this soccer forum serves as one of the final strongholds for free thought—a place where people from all walks of life, regardless of their convictions or affiliations, can actually coexist.

Maybe someone would actually answer your whining if you’d just post your questions in the moderation feedback section instead of cluttering up the Example or Offside threads.
As a long-time veteran of this forum, you should definitely know that by now, Charles Roberts33.

Even more important: why on earth do you think you deserve an explanation for why some other user got a permaban, Charles Roberts33? Are you their legal counsel now? Or did you just appoint yourself as some kind of self-styled internal auditor for the forum?

Moderation over here basically boils down to handing out cards, deleting posts, and banning people just because certain individuals decide they own the place. There has to be some baseline level of communication on this forum. Cinque got banned for being straight-up abusive to other users. Writing one decent post doesn't give him a free pass when he acts like that.
And no, I didn't ban him.

Screw soccer. You guys seriously expect some kind of logic on this subforum?

Bryan Adams6 said:Perhaps someone might deign to address your grievances regarding the fact that you chose to pose a question in a space intended for moderation discussions rather than within the specific threads dedicated to Primer or Offside?
As a veteran member of this community, surely you would know better, Mr. Charles Roberts33.

That was quite the perfectly timed intervention on his part. 🤣

The inquiry regarding Cinque was indeed posted in the appropriate thread; it simply appears that you fail to actually open it, Mr. Moderator.

Bryan Adams6 said:An even more pressing question arises: why do you, Mr. Charles Roberts33, feel entitled to an explanation regarding why another user received a permanent ban? Are you his appointed legal representative? Or perhaps some sort of self-appointed internal audit committee within the forum?

Moderation here on the Soccer board has devolved into nothing more than issuing cards, deleting posts, and banning users, simply because certain individuals have decided to treat this platform like their own private PDF document where they dictate all the rules. There ought to be some semblance of standardized communication on this forum; Cinque was banned due to the blatant disrespect shown toward other members. Writing a few insightful posts does not grant him amnesty in instances such as these.
And no, I was not the one who issued the ban.

I am unaware of the specific grounds for his permanent ban, but generally speaking—there used to be a system of standard yellow and red cards where bans were accumulated over time, while custom penalties of 100, 200, or 500 points were the exception.

Now, it seems the logic has been inverted, as 500 and 1000-point penalties are handed out instantly. For those "45 or 50 point" infractions, one requires both the time and the inclination (which I certainly lack 😁) to moderate properly... jumping straight to a permanent ban is merely a lazy way to cut corners.

Jeremy Johnson18 said:To hell with soccer. Do you truly expect any degree of logical consistency from that subforum?

Jeremy Johnson18, if you possess the courage, go ahead and post that on the Soccer board. ☕ That will cost you 500 points.

Bryan Adams6 said:Perhaps someone might actually respond to your outcry, considering you chose to post this question in a thread dedicated to discussing Primer or Offside rather than using the space specifically reserved for moderator feedback?

Actually, you posted it quite appropriately in the thread meant for exactly that purpose, but clearly, you couldn't care less about "proper placement" if you haven't even bothered to check for new posts in ten days, 🙏🙏

Has an even more vital question occurred to you—why do you, Charles Roberts33, feel entitled to an explanation regarding why another forum member received a permanent ban? Are you his legal representative? Or perhaps some sort of self-appointed internal auditor for the forum?

Did it ever cross your mind that it might be because, after all these years, some of us actually still care about one another?

The forum has been steadily declining for years; there are hardly any new voices joining the conversation, and the moderation team tends to prune anyone who deviates from some unspoken set of rules. Honestly, you could count the quality contributors on one hand—the kind of people you can actually joke around with or have a meaningful discussion with. So, isn't it a bit of a miracle that we actually notice and care when one of those rare individuals suddenly stops posting?

Bryan Adams6 said:Moderation over at the Soccer boards has basically devolved into nothing but issuing warnings, deleting posts, and handing out bans, simply because certain individuals seem to think this is their own private club where they make all the rules.

I have to agree; that is a perfect description of how the moderation is being handled on this forum right now.

brightpilot6 said:You guys technically followed the rules for posting in this thread, which is exactly what this specific PDF section is designed for. But clearly, you all couldn't care less about "that location," considering nobody has even bothered to glance at the new registrations for ten whole days. 🙏🙏

He suggested that someone might actually respond, but let's be honest—that usually means they won't. 🙏

Look, staying silent when someone complains or posts is just as much of an answer as saying something...

A blunt insult shouldn't be enough to warrant a permanent ban—seriously. I’d love for someone to actually explain the logic behind that move. Especially for someone who’s been active on this forum for fifteen years straight.

We all deal with people who get under our skin for one reason or another, but that doesn't mean we should just kick them out.

And Silvan got hit with a pointless permaban too.

Bryan Adams6 said:Perhaps someone might actually respond to your outcries if you hadn't posted your question in the wrong section, specifically the area designated for moderator feedback rather than on an Example or Offside thread?
As a long-time veteran of this forum, Mr. Charles Roberts33, surely you should know better.

So, is there anything else I need to add to that? 😁

In the opening post, you were even provided with a link directing you to the exact place where such inquiries belong.

The more pressing issue here is why you, Mr. Charles Roberts33, feel entitled to an explanation regarding why another user was granted premium status. Are you his authorized representative? Or have you somehow installed yourself as some sort of internal forum audit committee?

My stubborn streak just won't let this go☕. I haven't been on this forum since yesterday; all this time, I've never commented on how the moderation works, nor have I ever asked you for any actual involvement—not to format files, nor to remove people who irritate me. I’ve simply engaged by starting discussions and opening threads. This time, however, I am reacting because I know you are one hundred percent in the wrong. By ignoring the response, you've made it clear to everyone that you aren't even following the community guidelines.

Cinque didn't just leave "some" quality posts; eighty percent of his contributions were top-tier. You could actually learn something from him, or at least have a laugh. In short, he was a model citizen, never problematic—which you wouldn't know if you actually read the rules. Therefore, granting premium status after a single, somewhat blunt incident is a scandalous, nonsensical move that has seriously damaged the integrity of our community standards, a sentiment shared by about a dozen other users.

Moderation on the Soccer board has devolved into nothing but handing out cards, deleting posts, and issuing bans, simply because certain individuals have decided this is their own private playground where they make all the rules. There needs to be a baseline level of communication on this forum. Cinque was banned for being verbally abusive toward other members. The fact that he wrote a few decent posts doesn't grant him amnesty in cases like this.
And no, I wasn't the one who banned him.

Let's be honest, you really have no idea what you're doing.😁

There are no criteria whatsoever. What passes today will be worthy of premium tomorrow. Something said by one user is perfectly fine, but if someone else says the exact same thing—someone who isn't part of the "inner circle"—then suddenly it's not okay.

brightpilot6 said:You guys could've just checked the thread on this board that’s literally there for that exact purpose, but clearly you don't give a damn about "that guy" since you haven't even glanced at the new posts in 10 days. 🙏🙏

Also, it was stated pretty clearly in the first post of that thread that it doesn't exist for stuff like this, but apparently some people don't give a shit about the board rules.

Didn't occur to you that maybe it's because after all these years, some of us actually care about each other?

The board has been dying naturally for years. New posters? Barely any. Moderation just cuts down anyone who steps out of line with the unwritten rules anyway. You can count the quality users on one hand—the ones you can actually joke around with or have a smart conversation with. So yeah, it's a freaking miracle we actually notice and care when one of those few people suddenly stops posting.

🤣 Nice job. You care so much about your buddy that it took you 45 days to realize he's gone. Real heroes here...

Agreed. This is the perfect description of how the mods are handling things on this board right now.

If you aren't happy, take it up with the higher-ups. We'll leave the spot for someone better.🙂

Bryan Adams6 said:It’s also worth noting that the very first post in this thread stated clearly that this topic is not intended for things like this, but apparently, some people just don't give a damn about the forum rules.

🤣 Real classy. It’s touching how much you all care about your colleague—taking forty-five days to realize he’s gone. You guys really are something else...

Look, we didn't want to jump the gun. We knew he deserved some kind of penalty, but nothing extreme. 🤷

We only reacted once the full picture became clear. We aren't really the type to post about everything here; I personally prefer settling things informally among ourselves, without all the drama.

I mean, Cinque himself isn't even the main issue right now. If he has any self-respect, he won't be coming back even if you lift the ban. You've purged people like Mamić firing a coach, but my point is simply that you're ruining the integrity of the forum. If permanent bans are handed out consistently for offenses like Cinque's, there won't be anyone left here in a year. Not that it would be a tragedy, let's be honest.

Bryan Adams6 said:If you're unhappy, take it up with the higher-ups. We'll step aside and leave the space to those who are better suited for it. 🙂

Oh, we're unhappy. What we actually need is some political appointee who doesn't even read the handbook, just so they can keep us under control and lecture us on "proper communication" like DJ does.

🤣 You're a real saint, aren't you? It's touching how much you all care about your colleague—it only took forty-five days for anyone to realize he was gone. Truly, who can say?...

If you're unhappy with how things are run, take it up with the admins. We'll leave the floor to those who actually matter. 🙂

Honestly, give me a break. We asked a straightforward question politely enough, then we asked it a little less politely when nobody bothered to respond, and now, after being ignored for ten days, you show up acting like some kind of hall monitor handing out lectures that you don't even follow yourself. What's your deal? You're just another guy on this forum; having a black username doesn't suddenly make you an outsider or someone superior to the rest of us. Get a grip.

We’re still waiting for a straight answer to a simple question. If this is your version of an "answer," then go ahead and report yourself to the mods.

I just don't get it. Is admitting you were wrong really such a massive deal?

People throw around labels like "extremists" left and right on these PDFs, yet here we are with one of our own most exemplary forum members getting hit with a permanent ban without any actual investigation. And honestly, this isn't even the first time it's happened.

People are throwing around labels like "insurgents" in this PDF like it’s nothing—now we've got one "exemplary" forum member getting hit with a permanent ban without even a shred of an investigation... and honestly, this isn't even the first time it's happened...

Apparently, "sorry" is just too much to ask for these days—honestly... everyone's just too damn proud...

It’s crazy how the ego just shuts down any chance of admitting we messed up—it treats being wrong like some kind of fatal weakness. Honestly, it's probably just some prehistoric relic hardwired into our brains... In the real world, though, owning your mistakes is actually a huge power move, not a sign of weakness.
