Cooling solutions for All-in-One PCs

I’ve noticed my computer has started making this heavy humming sound lately, and I’m pretty sure it’s just the cooling fan acting up. I wanted to pick the brains of some experts here—when you're dealing with an all-in-one setup, do you absolutely have to stick with the OEM factory fans? Or is it a case where a technician could swap in a high-quality third-party part that might actually be more durable and perform better than the original junk? My PC has only been running for about a year and a half, so I wasn't really expecting this kind of headache so soon.

You might want to pop it open and see what's actually going on. Maybe you don't even need a new fan; it might just be spinning faster because the heatsink is choked with dust or the thermal paste has dried out and isn't doing its job.

The red part is the fan, which probably just needs a good cleaning and some compressed air—unless it’s dying, then you might have to swap it out. The blue one is the little passive heatsink on the CPU; you should blow the dust out of that too since it'll choke if it gets clogged, and maybe reapply some thermal paste while you're at it.

If it's only about a year and a half old, I guess you might still be covered under warranty...

Thanks so much👍 I spent quite a while turning the thing over and peeking underneath and around the back just to track down where those cooling vents are located, and honestly, I’ve got this nagging feeling it’s running a little quieter now—though, let’s be real, it’s definitely not as silent as when it first came out of the box😁 It’s technically still under warranty, but Best Buy would probably just want to ship it off to some remote repair center somewhere, which sounds like a massive headache I’d rather avoid. If that humming noise starts getting any louder, I’ll probably just take it to my local guy down the street who I actually trust, but I still wanted to wrap my head around what was going on, so thanks for walking me through it.
