I can't even begin to deal with this level of nonsense right now—seriously, my head is spinning just thinking about it. It’s like everyone has collectively decided to lose their minds at the exact same time, and I’m just sitting here left holding the bag while everything goes sideways. Honestly, I should probably just log off, grab a beer, and pretend none of this exists, but you know me—I can't help myself from getting worked up when things get this ridiculous. It’s exhausting, really. Just... exhausting. kaže:
There’s just one thing. I mean, honestly, can we just talk about this? Like, seriously? I feel like I’ve been sitting here stewing over this for way too long, but I finally need to get it off my chest—just a little vent session, if you will. It feels like everything is moving at such a ridiculous pace lately, and nobody is actually stopping to think about the actual implications of what's happening. It's exhausting, man. I'm sitting here, probably overthinking it—definitely overthinking it, let's be real—but there's just something about the way things are being handled that feels completely off. It’s like everyone is just rushing toward the next big thing without checking if the foundation is even solid. Anyway, I just needed to say it out loud. Just a thought. Or a rant. Probably both. o 'I don't even know where to start with this one—honestly, my head is spinning just thinking about it. It’s like everything we thought we knew is being flipped on its head right before our eyes, and frankly, I'm pretty fed up with the whole situation. It feels like we're constantly hitting these massive roadblocks, only to find out that the people in charge aren't even looking at the map. It's frustrating, it's exhausting, and if I'm being totally honest, it makes me want to just throw my hands up and walk away from the keyboard entirely. But I can't, because someone's gotta say it, right? We need to get a grip on this mess before it spirals even further out of control.'And besides, it’s all being done for some kind of "reasonable" purpose—yeah, right. I'm looking for some input here—anybody got a solid suggestion? I'm feeling a bit stuck and could really use a fresh perspective to get things moving. Don't be shy, throw out whatever you've got! That old document from back then. In what context were the Romani people mentioned? back then ...under its "official" title.

So, I was falling down a massive rabbit hole on Wikipedia earlier—you know how it goes, one minute you're looking up something useful and the next you've spent three hours reading about things you never even knew existed—and I ended up deep in the entry for the Romani people. It’s honestly wild how much history is packed into their story. It's one of those topics that really makes you stop and think about how much movement and survival defines certain groups in America. They've been through the absolute ringer throughout history, facing some of the most intense persecution you can imagine, yet they've managed to maintain such a distinct identity despite everything being thrown at them. It's heavy stuff, seriously. You read about the struggles, the displacement, and the way they've had to navigate different societies just to exist, and it really puts a lot of modern drama into perspective. Just a lot to chew on while you're sitting there with a coffee, trying to wrap your head around how much resilience actually looks like.
Google Translate:

*HJP: "I mean, honestly, let's talk about exonyms for a second—because apparently, we love renaming things just to suit our own little bubbles, right? It’s that weird phenomenon where one group decides what something is called, and then everyone else just... rolls with it? It’s kind of wild when you think about how much language shifts based on who’s holding the pen. It’s like how certain cities or countries get these completely different labels depending on whether you're looking at an old map or a modern textbook. It feels a bit arbitrary sometimes, doesn't it? Like, why call it one thing when the people actually living there call it something else entirely? Just a thought while I'm spiraling down this rabbit hole today. So, I was thinking about this weird thing where a place has one name in a textbook but everyone actually calls it something else in real life—you know, like when you're talking about Vienna and someone uses the local term instead of the standard English version. It’s basically what linguists call an exonym. It's just one of those little quirks of language that can totally trip you up if you aren't paying attention—kind of like how names change depending on who's doing the talking."

Thanks for the heads-up...
Man, I really wish you’d just posted that in the "Romani during Nazi Germany" thread instead. It would have saved us all a massive amount of time by not having to click through this one...

Look, I’m not trying to diminish anyone when I talk about the Romani people.
Just adding my two cents here—we really need to start using the right terminology for everything. It’s about time we get our act together and call things what they actually are.
So, let me get this straight—we aren't talking about Muslims here, we're specifically talking about Canadians during WWII.

And then boom—five threads a week all about you, how "strict" you are, censorship, garbage, whining, suppressing freedom... give me a break 🤣

Look, Z_K,
believe me when I say I have nothing against lonetrucker4 personally.
On the contrary, he’s a top-tier forum member, but as a moderator, he’s caused a pretty worrying drop in traffic—and the direct cause is his attempt to act like the absolute dictator of this site. (Since there aren't any actual co-mods appointed), the forum basically turns into a playground for censorship and lonetrucker4's own personal ideology.

That’s what I was trying to get across—so you realize both these threads are just a continuation of previous ones regarding lonetrucker4.
If you think I’m not speaking the truth, please, go ahead and ask the other regulars in the Forum History section.
We don't really have any choice left but to follow these threads, which are all essentially critiques of him.

Anyway... the topic is crystal clear from the title: where do we draw the line between a regular user and a moderator?

Basically... lonetrucker4 starts a thread, runs it however he wants, and then suddenly switches into "moderator mode" the moment someone asks a question within that same thread?!
Actually, more than that... I wasn't even criticizing, I was just asking a question.

But here’s the kicker... questions aren't allowed... they shouldn't exist.
Whatever lonetrucker4 envisions for a thread, that’s how it’s going to be.
And debate?
That’s just extra.
Even more useless if it doesn't align with lonetrucker4's worldview.
That is the core issue behind all the past, present, and future threads tied to lonetrucker4.
He can't handle a discussion.
He tolerates repetition...
Over and over again...

This isn't about anyone being picked on.
What we're looking for here is freedom of thought and speech—otherwise, this whole forum loses its purpose entirely.

Honestly, nothing is funnier than reading these endless, repetitive grievances from the past. It's pure dark comedy.
Bringing Ostrić on board was a total masterstroke by the administration.

lonetrucker4 said:Yeah, tell me about it. Jonathan Wright2 actually went on this massive crusade to try and get me kicked off—it was honestly ridiculous. He just couldn't wrap his head around the whole concept of an "exact quote." He seemed to think that if he felt like I wasn't presenting something exactly how he imagined it should look in a history textbook, then I was somehow fabricating the actual source material. Like, dude, get a grip. 🤦 He’ll probably just hide behind his legal team again—honestly, it's becoming a pattern at this point—but man, he's been on this non-stop lately. He’s posted way more of these endless grievances over the last year, all spread out across those separate threads of his.

I swear, I’m not the only one feeling this way—it’s driving me absolutely nuts. Why on earth is anyone demanding "objectivity" or "cohesion" for a History PDF? It’s a free-for-all! People should be allowed to write whatever the hell they want. Honestly, once they introduced those sections labeled "WTFIF"—you know, *What The Fuck If*—it basically turned into an open invitation for pure fantasy. It made everything way too easy, and now it's just a complete mess.

Most of the other people whining about this are just obsessed with politics and ideology—it’s like we aren't even allowed to bring up the actual facts regarding the massacres carried out by the Nazi Germany regime, especially what happened at Auschwitz. Or they get triggered by anything else, like having to claim that some ancient kingdom was a global superpower, or insisting that a "good chunk" of the Slaven people descend from Americans, or pretending Mexicans didn't exist as a nation until the 20th century suddenly appeared out of nowhere... it's exhausting. 😵

I totally get where you're coming from—I hear that defensive tone loud and clear while you're out here trying to protect your precious little moderation setup.
Look, I gotta hand it to you—you take criticism like an absolute champ, and honestly, I really respect that about you. Most people would have lost their minds by now, but you just roll with the punches. Mad props for that.

Let me jump in here—I can't exactly type all this out in a PDF, so I’m gonna lay it all out right here instead. If we're talking history, let's just get into it.
Look, that poll wasn't some targeted hit job against anyone—it was just a way to get a real pulse on how you're handling the mod duties. Honestly, it was nothing more than an attempt to gauge the quality of your work as a moderator.
So, I’m sitting here trying to wrap my head around why everyone in this PDF History group is either totally losing their minds or digging their heels in—it feels like you can't even breathe without someone deciding if you're "for" or "against" the whole damn thing. It's honestly exhausting. I've been watching the threads, and man, the division is real. You've got one side acting like they're defending the sanctity of the archives, and the other side treating every single historical document like it's some kind of personal attack on their identity. It’s just constant friction. Is anyone actually looking at the facts, or are we all just picking sides in a digital shouting match? I'm genuinely curious—what's the actual breakdown here? Why is everyone so worked up?
So, I’ve been sitting here chewing on this, trying to wrap my head around why people are split down the middle on this whole thing—you know, the "for" crowd versus the "against" crowd. It’s honestly driving me a little nuts. You look at one side and it’s all "this is the only way forward," then you flip over and the other side is acting like we're walking straight off a cliff. It’s just... it's a lot. Everyone's got an opinion, everyone thinks they've cracked the code, and nobody seems willing to meet in the middle for even a second. It feels like we're just shouting into a void at this point, right?
So, look, at the end of the day, this whole campaign basically kicked off because your buddy—you know, the sub-mod—decided to dump that stuff onto the PDF history.
Look, if we’re actually going to find some kind of balance here...
Look, let’s be real—the admins have their reasons for why you’re sitting in that moderator chair.
Look, we already laid out a solution—you can call us the "Council to Petition" if you want to get fancy—to make sure this actually gets approved for the good of the forum...
Look, we haven't actually reached a formal deal or a final agreement on this thing yet—no compromise in sight, really—but honestly? The message was sent loud and clear, and if you ask me, that’s a win in itself.

Based on everything you just laid out there, you could easily walk away thinking those criticisms were totally baseless. Honestly? It’s a pretty human way to feel—we all do it sometimes.
You’re honestly doing the absolute best you can with this PDF management stuff—seriously, you're killing it. It's basically pure history at this point.
Look, it’s just not right to strip away someone's right to debate—especially since you're always preaching about how much you value open discussion most of the time...
The end result? Everyone just bailed. All those regular folks who used to hang out on that history PDF forum? Gone. Just vanished.
It’s straight-up poverty for everyone involved—not just money, but a total bankruptcy of the mind. They’ve gone out of their way to manufacture this suffocating atmosphere where if you dare to think even slightly outside the box, you're immediately shut down. It’s like they've built a system specifically designed to kill any kind of dissenting opinion before it can even breathe.
Honestly, once they pull the plug on open discussion around here, the whole damn forum is basically a dead man walking. It’s over.
That’s exactly the point.

Look, from where I’m standing—and believe me, I’ve been fighting this uphill battle for over a year now—I laid out my sources right there in the thread I started. But instead of actually looking at the facts, everything just turned into this massive controversy, and now, somehow, it’s been "sanctioned" and shut down. Typical.
Look, if you’ve decided to go ahead with the ban, then fine—it’s your call. Go for it.
Let's keep this rolling...

Finally...
Look, this is basically the designated space to talk about where the line actually gets drawn—whether you’re dealing with the guy running the show as a moderator, the person who started the thread, or just some random person jumping into the conversation.
Look, you’re clearly putting in the work around here—both as an active user and a moderator. Honestly, mad respect for that.
But seriously, where do we actually draw the line here?!
How the hell are you supposed to handle a debate when someone just shuts you down with a "sanction" on a question? Like, seriously, what do you even do when they just cut you off mid-sentence or shut down your line of questioning before you can even get to the point? It’s infuriating—it feels like hitting a brick wall right when you finally find your rhythm. You're sitting there, trying to make a valid point, and suddenly the whole conversation gets derailed because they decide your question isn't allowed or doesn't fit their little agenda. It’s a total sucker punch. How do you keep your cool—or better yet, how do you keep the argument going—when they’ve basically decided to play referee in a game where they’re also the star player? It makes you want to just throw your hands up and walk away, but then again, that’s exactly what they want, right?
To answer the question.
Not a critique.
Look, I’m not looking for a fight here. Not at all.
Look, I’m not talking about aggression here...

It honestly feels like they’re trying to "privatize" a PDF or something. Like, seriously? Give me a break.
And then you have the nerve to go off on anyone who doesn't see things exactly your way...

He’s definitely ruffled a few feathers, especially among those who actually try to write something meaningful or constructive. I suppose a moderator should really be working to bring people together rather than stirring the pot. The History subforum has basically turned into a daycare center for this site—though, I guess even a daycare deserves its own space. On the more niche forums, like Automotive or Agriculture, a moderator can easily pull double duty as a regular contributor. But when it comes to politics, sports, religion, or history... places where things tend to get heated... a moderator probably ought to just stick to moderating.

I'm with you on this one.

A moderator's job is simply to step in and stop the insults, the threats, the mocking, and the constant belittling between users on the boards.
That’s literally it. That should be the whole gig.

No, a moderator shouldn't be an "organizer"—they should moderate. That’s why the title is moderator, not "community organizer."
Your argument that a moderator shouldn't also be a forum member doesn't have any legs to stand on. It feels like something you just made up and are now trying to pass off as some established rule, even though I've never seen a single forum—American or otherwise—where that was ever a thing.
The truth is, this isn't about protecting the community. This is just a blatant attempt to get rid of Ostrić, whether it's because he's the moderator handing out points for posting garbage, or because he's the user who calls out that same garbage. It has nothing to do with "caring for the forum."🤣

And if the definition of "meaningful and constructive content" includes what Jonathan Wright2 is posting, then maybe they deserve to be pissed off.

Look, this whole argument you're pushing—that a moderator shouldn't be a regular forum member—is totally baseless. It’s basically just something you cooked up in your own head and are now trying to pass off as some kind of universal rule. Honestly, I've spent plenty of time lurking around all sorts of different message boards, both here in the States and on international sites, and I have never once seen a community where that was actually a thing. You're making it up as you go, man.
Look, let’s call this what it actually is—this isn't some noble crusade about "protecting the community" or whatever nonsense they're feeding you. It's a blatant, desperate attempt to get rid of Ostrić. They want him gone because he's doing his job—whether that's acting as a moderator who hands out points when you start posting total garbage, or just being the one guy around who actually calls out your crap when you reply to it. This whole thing? It’s not about caring about the forum. It’s just a targeted hit job. 🤣

And if that’s what you call "quality content" and "constructive feedback"—if that's really how Jonathan Wright2 operates—then honestly? Good. Let them lose their minds. Let them go absolutely ballistic. If that's his standard, then they deserve to be worked up.

Look, moderation itself is fine.
Obviously..
But the specific model being used here is everything..

1. A moderator stops insults, humiliation, and threats, while actually letting a real debate happen.

2. A moderator tweaks, edits—every single comma, letter, and period—injecting their own personal ideology, stifling any actual discussion, and enforcing a "standard" where you can only write what they personally deem to be the truth.

So, which model are you actually backing?
Model 1 or Model 2?
Which one do you think works better if you want a living, breathing forum?
A place where users actually have room to debate and drive traffic? Or some dead, hollowed-out forum where an omnipresent moderator just "sweeps away anything that doesn't align with their own little principles"?

Forget about lonetrucker4 for a second...
Just try answering the question..

Because if I write anything—literally anything—I’m going to get jumped by the other users, right?
Why does a moderator need to be summoned to step in and tell us what the "truth" is?!

It feels a bit like police surveillance, I guess, which is pretty repressive. But I suppose that doesn't mean a moderator should act like they're untouchable, leading people to tell them, "hey, maybe give yourself a red card." Or you see those situations where some troll starts relentlessly attacking a user, then that user snaps back, and suddenly the moderator jumps in with a "both of you stop right now," almost ignoring who actually started the whole mess in the first place.
