Locked thread with no explanation

Does anyone have a clue why the "Coronavirus" thread got locked over on the politics subreddit?
The mods didn't leave any kind of explanation or anything.

It’s honestly pretty weird that none of the moderators bothered to post an explanation here or anywhere else about why such a massive thread was shut down.

Shouldn't a moderator state the reason for closing a thread in the final post before shutting it down?

It’s pretty obvious someone is playing games here.

A lot of people are finally starting to connect the dots about what’s coming next, but to those media gatekeepers in America, it just looks like active agitation or radicalizing the narrative.

That's how I see it, anyway. It's stupid and cowardly, but hey, we're stuck with Andrej Plenković as our leader, so what do you expect?

We've been debating this for a while now. This thread on the politics sub has run its course, essentially becoming a playground for a handful of regulars. Given the number of warnings issued and posts deleted, it’s clear this discussion has reached its limit. We appreciate everyone who participated.

You’re standing right on government ground here... honestly, I think the decent, honest folks actually doing the moderating work are gonna start jumping ship real fast—either by choice or because they don't want to hand their handles over to federal agents. I’m pretty damn sure that’s what’s happening, just like I’m pretty sure half the usernames you see now aren't even the same people from back in the day, no matter how much they try to mask it. Maybe I've got it wrong, but everything is pointing in that direction.

Kudos to your intuition. We all jumped ship to the bureaucracy two months ago once Andrej Plenković started paying our salaries directly—and even gave us a raise.☕

It would be quite something if Reddit introduced censorship regarding the coronavirus, leaving us nowhere to talk because everything is tucked away in some massive PDF policy.

Besides, we were the ones who kicked off this topic on Reddit, only to end up fenced in, with a little disclaimer saying that if things escalate, we'll step back in.
