How to connect a projector to external speakers

Hey,

I'm looking to hook up this projector to some external speakers—either running through a mixer or just plugging directly into a speaker via a 3.5mm jack.

The projector is getting its video feed from a DirecTV box that only has an HDMI out, or potentially from this ATSC converter coming up next.

What’s the best way to make this work?

I already tried routing the audio through the SPDIF input on the ATSC unit, but I couldn't get anything to happen.

You’ve got an RCA output on that ATSC receiver, so you just grab those separate red and white plugs for picture and sound, hook them up to a mixer, and you're all set...

Looking at the specs for this projector, there's no SCART port to be found. It just lists "Interfaces ---- VGA in, HDMI in, USB 2.0 Type B."
So, you can't just grab the audio straight from the SCART connection on an ATSC receiver.

Instead, you'd have to hook it up to an audio amp with speakers—maybe something like an old home theater system you have lying around.
