Just trying to be constructive here.

When that happened, it felt like looking at a screen that had been polished way too much, almost making it hard to see anything clearly. 🙏

But I figured, whatever, I won't start hurling insults right away. Maybe the guy's just tired or perhaps he's had one too many drinks.

Some of us even have a TRX installed in the meantime.

With Alonso's and Kim's (and maybe Max's soon) portraits right there in my line of sight... 😳

But hey, those details are probably way too personal for this dive bar of a forum, so I'll stop there.

Out of all of them, only Kimi actually counts... and even then, only until he jumped ship to Ferrari...

But then again, I thought, okay, let’s not jump straight to cursing him out. Maybe the guy is just sleep-deprived or perhaps had one too many drinks.

What do you guys make of this? To me, it feels like there's a subtle nod toward racism here.

Exactly. And instead of actually enjoying the sheer brilliance of Mercedes for another season, he’s decided to grace us with his god-given talent. What did you all decide to do? You decided to hate. Because, clearly, hating is much easier than appreciating greatness. It’s obvious.

The kind of mastery we’re witnessing lately is right up there with Prost's Miami 1986, Senna's Donington 1993, Schumacher's Spa Francorchamps 1995, Villeneuve's Indianapolis 1995, or Vettel's Interlagos 2012....

I mean, the man is treating us to these extraordinary performances on track, genuinely improving our quality of life! Just watching him sends your endorphins, serotonin, and adrenaline through the roof. And instead of saying, "Thank God, Lewis, for deciding to bless us with one more season," you people just sit there and hate. And hate. For reasons known only to yourselves. Some because they can't stomach that he surpassed Senna, some because they can't accept he's better than Vettel and Prost, others because they can't handle that he's superior to F1 legends. And some, unfortunately, just because they don't like his choice in clothes.

You should be ashamed.

Look, we all know the real reason most people are bothered... and it isn't any of those things you just listed...

To you and anyone else who isn't high on crack, 🙏

But I guess that kind of insult is perfectly fine, 🤷

Let’s quit the guessing games. I'll tell you exactly why I can't stand Hamilton—from the second he hops out of the car until he's back in it. It's because he's an absolute moron who talks pure nonsense, sticks his nose in everyone's business, and honestly has zero clue. He's a hypocrite, acts high and mighty over nothing, has no sense of proportion, and is just a complete loser. That's why we "hate" him.
So there's zero talk about racism here—it's just about him acting like a tool.

Paul Joseph Von put it perfectly:

But look—once that guy gets in the cockpit, he's easily the most badass Grand Prix driver we get to watch today. And Thank God we actually get to see him, because what he does is a once-in-two-decades kind of thing.

Learn how to separate the driver from the person outside the car.

Yeah, you can root for a total jerk, as long as that jerk drives the hell out of the car.

It’s not like he had much of a shot anyway...
But after this weekend, Bottas can kiss any title hopes goodbye...

https://www.racefans.net/2021/04/21/...air-in-crash/?

Russell absolutely trashed his engine, which basically guarantees a mountain of grid penalties.
So yeah, he just killed two races in one go.

It’s effectively two races down the drain in one single hit.

George Russell knows exactly what he's doing... 🙂

Well, not really—you can tell by how this one fan is acting that they basically admit Lewis is miles ahead, but they just think he’s getting too much attention and overstepping his bounds... you know, until he isn't in the car anymore.

It reminds me of when people told LeBron James to just "shut up and dribble"—I guess these folks would rather Lewis just "shut up and drive."

Man, come on guys, it's not the 1900s anymore... if athletes are using these platforms, then that's just how it is now. 🙂

Halfway through the race, we get hit with a red flag, yet somehow the Haas guys are still sitting two laps behind Max Verstappen. It’s almost impressive. If they manage to build a car next year that actually contends for a mid-pack finish, we won't be calling it a quantum leap—we'll just call it the Gunther Leap.

Front-wing damage cost Hamilton six tenths a lap

.....

Asked how much performance was lost by the damage at the Tamburello chicane, Schovlin said: “Initially it was quite large.

“The reason for that was because the footplate of the front wing hadn’t come away completely. It was actually held on by the pressure tappings we use to measure the aero performance of those parts. And while this was flapping around, it was causing a big loss, so around six tenths of a second that was affecting him in the opening laps.

“Eventually that bit of the front wing fell off completely and that was actually quite good for Lewis, it halved the loss.

.....

Interesting observation.
First, how could such a "minor" bit of damage cost that much time per lap? And second, isn't it strange that things improved significantly once the damaged piece finally fell off entirely?

Interesting observation.
First off, it’s wild that such a "minor" bit of damage costs that much time per lap. Second, things actually looked a lot better once that damaged wing piece finally fell off completely.

If that's the case, then Lewis was driving at least 25 laps with a 0.6-second deficit per lap. Meanwhile, the gap between Lewis and Max stayed pretty steady, staying within a second over about 20 laps. In fact, during those last few laps of that stretch (somewhere between laps 25 and 30), Lewis even started making some real headway on Max.

If Lewis was dealing with damage that cost him 0.6 seconds a lap and he still managed to stay glued to Max, you'd have to conclude that Mercedes actually has a race pace advantage over Red Bull of about 0.6 seconds per lap.
Assuming, of course, that Max was pushing his absolute limit (which I'm sure he was).

IMO, I'd chalk that late charge up to Lewis and the Mercedes crew's (excellent) tire management rather than track conditions. We've seen it plenty of times before—his tires just seem to outlast everyone else's.

Roger Wright94 said:If Lewis was dealing with damage that cost him roughly 0.6 seconds per lap, yet he still managed to stay on Max's tail, doesn't that imply his raw race pace is actually about 0.6 seconds faster than the Red Bull?

Fixed your post. 🙂

Roger Wright94 said:If that’s actually how it went down, then Lewis was basically cruising for like 25 laps while trailing by about 0.6 per lap.

Man, you totally dug your own grave here.

Roger Wright94 said:Plus, Lewis staying within a second of Max for those 20ish laps was barely even a gap, really.

PU issues and just straight-up tire management.

Roger Wright94 said:In those final few laps of that stretch—maybe around laps 25 to 30—Lewis actually started making some real moves on Max and closing that gap.

Nope, that never happened. Seriously. The only time Lewis actually "closed in" on Max was when he cut from -13 down to -11 because Max got stuck in traffic (remember, someone got lapped for the first time on lap 19?), but then Lewis lost it all a lap later and we were right back at -13. Then Max hits the pits, and Lewis—who’s a lap behind in the pits too—ends up smashing into the wall.

Jason Campbell70 said:Just fixing my typo there. 🙂

Honestly, Lewis could've pulled off a lap a full minute faster than Max if he actually had the chance. I mean, Lewis is just flawless and totally dominates everyone.

Alex Barnes93 said:The only way Lewis could have actually chipped away at Max's lead would have been narrowing that gap from -13 to -11 while Max was stuck in traffic—which happened when someone got lapped for the first time in lap 19—only for Lewis to lose it all again a lap later and see the gap back to -13.

Max's peak advantage during that opening stint was 6 seconds.
Specifically? 6.065 seconds, during lap 22.

Which race were you watching? 🙂

Jason Campbell70 said:Man, you wouldn't believe it—Max actually managed to pull ahead by a massive 6 seconds right out of the gate in that first stint! It was absolutely wild to watch.
Actually, let me be precise here—it was exactly 6.065 seconds, right during lap 22 of the race.

Oh man, my bad, you're totally right! I got way too carried away playing around with those imaginary numbers you were talking about earlier. Seriously, I was just vibing with it. 👍

Jason Campbell70 said:So, which race were you actually watching? I feel like I missed half the action because I was busy arguing with the guy at the deli about whether or not they should put extra pickles on my sub—seriously, who even does that? Anyway, what did you catch? 🙂

Remember that race where Lewis absolutely fell asleep at the starting lights? Then you’ve got him smashing his front wing halfway through the second turn, only to act like that broken wing was the reason he couldn't keep up. Like, excuse me? He tries to blame the aero when his actual pace is already somehow 0.6 seconds faster than Max's. I mean, do the math—if you can even call it that! Just total nonsense.

Then Lewis just totally lost it, spinning right out—honestly, he was just cruising along when everything went sideways. Total beach vibes. So, he goes and clips the barrier a bit, right? Just a little nudge, but then he spends all that time totally rebuilding the car. By the time they hit the restart, he dives into that first turn sitting a massive 7.4 seconds behind Max Verstappen. Honestly, he just couldn't find it. He kept talking up this whole imaginary "magic" pace where he’d be 0.6 seconds faster per lap, but it was all talk. He ended up finishing right behind Max with a gap of exactly 22.000 seconds. Total bust.

Jason Campbell70 said:You're actually pretty much on the money with that one.

I know! 🙂 Honestly, Lewis Hamilton is just on another planet compared to the rest of these guys. I’m telling you, he’s probably the only driver out there who could actually push a car fast enough to break the sound barrier—and I mean totally raw, without even touching the DRS! Meanwhile, all these other amateurs can barely crack 228 mph even when they have the DRS wide open (just look back at Monza 2020). Total GOAT status. Period.
