The premise is actually pretty interesting. Šajmalan knows his stuff—he’s a solid filmmaker who really understands the craft—and his movies always manage to feel distinct and engaging.

I mean, Šamalamadingdong is honestly even worse than a Transformers film. At least Bay seems to take himself seriously, whereas this guy acts like he's some kind of übermensch creative on par with Kubrick, which he hasn't been for years now.

Who says he actually thinks that, though? I haven't really sat through his interviews or any of those public outbursts. Is there an actual quote out there where he's just bragging about himself?

And when it comes to creativity—I mean, you can't deny his movies are interesting and definitely don't follow the standard formula.

As for creativity, you can't deny that his movies are interesting and unconventional.

The concept and the core idea are solid and innovative. The issue is that over his last few films, the execution has completely fallen apart. The final product just doesn't live up to the initial promise.

I bet everyone just ends up aging and dying at the end without any actual explanation—classic. The cast looks pretty solid, though, I guess.

Honestly, this is easily his worst movie yet. Even the ending felt like some cheap, generic trash you’d see in any typical Hollywood blockbuster. I really didn't expect him to drop the ball this hard. But hey, everyone has an off day, so I'll give him a pass. It's just such a shame because the concept and premise were actually pretty cool. 🕺

Shymalan is basically becoming the next Uwe Boll. The guy somehow manages to semi-self-fund his projects, cranking out stuff like this with a cast that isn't even totally anonymous, all on an $18 million budget. Obviously, he's gonna walk away with the cash regardless of how the movie actually turns out, which just helps him bankroll whatever he does next.

Anyway, quick question about a specific detail in the movie. If anyone else caught it, because I totally missed it.

When the characters try to cross the canyon, they pass out—if I'm reading the scene right. But whenever that happens, the direction shows everyone waking up lying on the beach. It never actually shows them getting from the canyon to the shore. Or maybe I'm just blind. Did anyone catch a moment where the movie implies how their unconscious bodies actually make it from the canyon down to the beach?

It’s never mentioned. They pass out in the canyon and then they just sort of teleport onto the beach. ☕

I guess the movie was alright enough_; just keep an eye out to see how they wrap things up 👍; the ending and the whole explanation is 👎 but I don't really regret sitting through it
