For a few weeks now, I’ve been noticing something on my left wrist—it feels like a hard bump or a bit of bone sticking out, and I wanted to share these photos:

The exact same bony sensation exists on my right hand too, though this one on the left is significantly more pronounced; my doctor suggested it might just be "asymmetry," implying the bone structure on my left side is simply more prominent than the right, perhaps exacerbated by repetitive strain from using my computer or phone, especially since I'm left-handed and it's my dominant hand... but honestly, I am quite worried about what this actually is. To make matters worse, my wrist has been aching in a way that's difficult to put into words, and for a while there, the "bump" itself was actually painful too, and sometimes it feels like it's swelling up and then shrinking back down, though I can't say for certain.

In case these shots are a bit blurry, here is an example I found on Google that clearly shows the exact spot where mine is located:

So, are you really dealing with mouse wrist pain?
I was just looking at my own hands, and it's weird—I have this tiny little bump on my left wrist, but my right one is completely smooth... Even though I’m technically right-handed, I actually do most of my heavy lifting with my left hand. I guess I'm just ambidextrous in a way? I write with my right, but if they had just let me choose when I was a kid, I probably would've gone left-handed...

Hey there! I actually dealt with something similar on my hand once. Someone suggested I just keep massaging the lump using steady, circular motions...
After a little while, it ended up clearing right up.
Best of luck!

ganglion. Do a little digging on that.

I don't think that's it, because my doctor didn't mention anything like that at all... and surely something like that would be obvious right away, wouldn't it?

I had one too, just on my upper arm. It's basically fatty tissue that needs to be cleared out. You should 100% go see a doctor; they can just go in and surgically remove it at a local clinic.

The same bump is on my other hand too, but this one sticks out way more. My doctor thinks it might just be "asymmetry"—basically saying the bone on my left hand is just more prominent than the right. He also mentioned it could be from using a computer or phone too much. I'm left-handed, so it makes sense that it's on the left... but I'm really worried about what this actually is. Besides that, my hand kind of hurts. It's hard to put into words, but at one point, the lump itself was hurting too. Sometimes it seems bigger, sometimes smaller. I can't tell.

If the photo isn't clear enough, here’s a Google image showing the exact spot where mine is located:

It could potentially be a ganglion cyst. The main thing is knowing its exact anatomical location—like if it's pressing against anything or if it's "stuck" to nearby structures—and whether it's messing with your movement.
Wrist function involves bending, stretching, stabilizing things when they're heavy, and how you position it when leaning on it.
If any of those movements feel off, you should ask for an ultrasound to confirm if it's a ganglion. A specialist will likely be the one to order that imaging for you.
