What's the actual issue here? Is it totally fine if someone replies to my post after I've already put them on ignore? And then they go ahead and get insulting because they think I won't even see it? Are the mods just staying quiet because they're okay with the insults?
What part of this isn't making sense to you?

Just to be clear, Jack Ward82 wasn't the one throwing insults at my post after I ignored him. It was some other user, and the moderators didn't step in at all.

The guy actually quoted my own post in his reply.

So, if you're feeling called out by that... 🕺

And it's pretty funny—curiosity clearly beats an ignore list, just like our colleague here was saying. ☕

Honestly, your post just proves why this thread title makes sense—you basically just bragged about your own block list. 😈

I hope it's obvious that I can't see who he's talking to or what he's replying to if he's on my ignore list? That's why I used the word "assuming."

Goodness, some people really need everything spelled out for them.

Look, this thread is specifically about ignore lists. I don't go out of my way to talk to people I've blocked on other threads, but man, they just won't stop using other users to get to me. To make matters worse, they're being insulting, and the mods aren't doing a thing about it.

When I put someone on my ignore list, I don't go out of my way to talk to them in other threads, but for goodness' sake, they just keep finding ways to drag me into conversations through third parties. And the worst part? They’re being insulting, yet the moderators aren't doing a single thing about it.

Check this out—on the COVID subforum, in that conspiracy theory thread, here's the latest post from Jack Ward82. He knows he's on my ignore list, but he still can't help mentioning me.
Why do the mods just let this happen?

Just to clear things up: even when I'm not logged in, I can still see what people on my ignore list are posting. Is that really too hard to wrap your head around?

Not sure why I ended up quoting myself here. I meant to edit the post... but honestly, who am I even trying to impress?

Why on earth do the moderators let this kind of thing slide?

Look, just because you've decided to put someone on your ignore list doesn't mean they have to do the same for you, nor does it strip them of their right to quote you or address you directly. Your ignore list is strictly your own business—it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights at all.

So, what you're saying is that people have a right to insult me or post mindless replies, regardless of whether I've decided to stop engaging with them? That honestly makes zero sense. Do you moderators even know who has who on ignore? How am I supposed to report an abusive post if that person is on my ignore list and I can't even see what they're typing? Is the forum policy actually designed to allow harassment to continue indefinitely just because the target chooses to tune it out?

Nathan White29 said:So, I guess someone just has the right to insult me and leave these mindless, trashy comments without any consequences, even if I decide I’m done talking to them? That makes zero sense. Do you mods actually have a way of seeing who has who on ignore? Because how am I supposed to report an abusive post if the person is blocked and I can't even see what they wrote? Or is this just the way things work here—that people get to be jerks indefinitely as long as the target doesn't realize it's happening?

Honestly, nobody has even broken character or started throwing insults in this thread yet.

There's really no need to start acting all defensive.

Just take a breath, stick to that ignore strategy if it keeps your peace of mind, and just enjoy being part of the community.

Nathan White29 said:Do you guys on the mod team actually have any way of seeing who has put whom on their ignore list?

Generally speaking, no, we don't track that—it’s really not our business and it doesn't impact how we make our calls. If someone is being abusive toward you, just go ahead and report them. Please try to avoid throwing out vague accusations, though, because that doesn't really help anyone solve anything.

Look, let's stop with the vague complaining. If you actually have a specific grievance, please just start a new thread and include all the necessary links and evidence following the guidelines in this PDF. Right now, you're just cluttering things up with off-topic chatter.

Man, I haven’t been back here in a while, so I missed the whole spectacle. It’s honestly pretty disappointing having to catch up on all this after the fact instead of watching it unfold in real-time. 😳
I think this is actually the first time in 14 years that someone on this forum has landed me on their ignore list. I'm officially insulted.
The whole point of an ignore list should be to act as a catalyst—kind of like what velvetmoose9 was trying to explain at the bar, though he completely missed the mark on the sports analogy. Look, if you walk into a pub because you're fed up with certain people, you just ignore the low-lifes you refuse to stoop down to, or the wannabe bikers in leather jackets. You don't stand up in the middle of the room and announce to everyone in the bar that you're ignoring them. Doing that publicly just proves they actually got under your skin. It shows you aren't mentally tough enough to actually ignore them. You need years of meditation to reach that level of Zen. 😬
Just look at the irony in this thread: the guy who hasn't ignored a single soul is the one doing the ignoring, while the person who actually used the ignore button is the one whining and making a scene. 🧐

I’ve already flagged you as a provocateur
When someone starts playing judge and jury in politics, they get noticed
Then they turn around and insult you at the movies
Just hit ignore and call it a day—problem solved
I’m about ready to squash Jack Ward82 and code2 under my boot like an ant
And suddenly, everything on this forum becomes perfectly peaceful
It’s a shame I can't just block Ostrica and Kllck since the mods won't let me
Honestly, I've figured out what the powers that be are actually looking for, so I just stay away from that mess
