jadedrifter2 said:I’m a bit confused—why was my thread about Canada locked? Is there some kind of rule now against talking about Canada?

I mean, I thought I laid out pretty clearly why the topic should stay open, yet here we are. It feels a little lopsided when one serious discussion gets shut down, while something totally mindless—like that "swallowing" thread (I think that’s how it was titled)—is allowed to run wild with ten different sequels, where people basically just post emojis or a couple of words just to hit their daily post limit.

If the thread is locked, how are we supposed to actually connect with people who are planning to move under these new regulations? How are we meant to find those bits of practical advice that you won't find on any official government website, but which actually make the whole emigration process manageable?

It feels like Canada is being singled out here, whereas everyone can talk freely about Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and plenty of other places without an issue.

I’d really appreciate some answers to these questions—and please, let’s skip the generic canned responses. I'm looking for something specific.

Thanks!

It’s not locked just for you; it’s locked for the entire PDF section. It was specifically structured this way because there is now a dedicated thread for Canada questions, complete with links to all the relevant institutions and resources for anyone looking into immigration, paperwork, jobs, and so on. Also, while the Canada threads are locked to new posts, they remain available as a massive information resource for anyone interested—every single question has been answered a thousand times over. This was done to protect you guys; now you have a space where Americans can finally socialize without being constantly interrupted by the exact same repetitive questions. Nothing was taken away—it was simply organized.

Even though I explained the reasons for locking them, why does one serious topic get no space, while on the other hand, banal topics like "swallowing cum" (or whatever it's called) get full coverage and ten different sequels, where users just post emojis or a couple of words just to hit their post limit?

Pardon me, but where on the Diaspora have you ever seen discussions about swallowing cum or anything remotely like that?

How are we supposed to get insights from people who will be immigrating under the new rules if the thread is locked? How are we even supposed to find out the things that aren't written on official websites, the stuff that actually makes the immigration process easier?

This forum is a supplementary tool, not the alpha and omega of moving to another continent. All the material someone needs to stay informed is readily available to everyone. If you feel the need to answer someone's specific question, please just do it via PM.

Why is Canada being discriminated against, while you can discuss Australia, the US, New Zealand (and tons of other countries) perfectly normally?

Canada isn't being discriminated against. We plan to do the same thing for the other countries mentioned, but when we asked the forum members for help—people who know way more than we do—all we got was "get lost, kid."

I would like answers to all these questions, and please don't give me vague generalizations—give me specifics.

I hope I've covered everything and haven't been vague. If you have any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

You're welcome!

Don't mention it—that's what we're here for.

To the thread starter—I’ve done my best to answer here. If you aren't satisfied with what I've said or if you have more questions, just say the word and I will give you the most thorough answer possible.

jadedrifter2 said:Why ask me to quote your entire post if you weren't actually planning on answering any of my questions in the first place? It feels a bit rude, honestly...

Just be upfront and say this whole thread is just for show—that you're going to keep doing things your way regardless of what the rest of us on the forum think.

That is completely unnecessary and, frankly, flat-out wrong. Ask a question like a normal person, and you'll get a decent response. We do everything in our power to make sure everyone on this forum is happy, but let's be real—that's an impossible mission. That doesn't mean we won't work our tails off to resolve things so everyone wins. But fine, say whatever you want... just be prepared to live with it.

Yeah, I get it, totally makes sense...🙂

It’s just that you can't exactly pack up and move to Canada just because of some forum drama now...😁

Just kidding...

I'm the one who opened the thread, so I kind of consider it mine... how is it that nothing was taken away?? On this new thread, it says we aren't allowed to ask anything related to moving here. The topic has basically been watered down to a chat thread about the weather, restaurants, and other trivialities... from what I've noticed on other forums (and myself included), this kind of "protection" usually does more harm than good. You can't hear people's actual experiences or find any useful tips/tricks that make the process easier or harder on official sites, which is vital—especially this year with all the changes coming to immigration rules.

That wasn't on the diaspora forum—that was on Love, or something like that, whatever, it doesn't really matter. I only brought it up as an example of a trivial topic used just to fill space—those kinds of things get plenty of room, while important stuff like emigration gets none.

I don't think people realize that by locking these threads, you're essentially killing any chance for actual news exchange—and there's new stuff happening almost every single year. Some of these locked topics are 9 or 5 years old... in that kind of timeframe, everything changes. The same questions end up having totally different answers depending on the year, since immigration rules aren't set in stone.

What exactly isn't right here? Why does this feel so inhuman? Where did I go wrong?? I asked Henry Moore2 a few questions—just some basic stuff, really—using a totally normal tone, nothing insulting or condescending... and she hits me back with this post:

Henry Moore2 said:Look, if you’re going to quote someone, please just quote the whole thing. It’s like trying to understand a movie by watching a five-second clip—your point doesn't really hold water unless we see the full context. Until then, the decision stays unanimous.

There’s already a thread over there with all the links and responses.

So now, I’m supposed to quote her whole post just so my "argument is valid"—and how does she respond to that?
Here goes:
Henry Moore2 said:So, just to be clear—I really appreciate you putting in the effort and sharing those links, I truly do; but the core of the issue hasn't changed.

What kind of "clarification" is that? She basically said "this is how it is" and that was that—because she’s the one calling the shots around here. If that isn't being rude, I don't know what is. It feels like she's treating me like an idiot, which I know I'm not... why even ask for a quote if there was never any intention of actually answering the questions?

I stand by what I said—this kind of attitude just trivializes the whole discussion. This isn't about being too busy or missing something; looking at how she handled both the first and second time, if she wanted to answer my post, she could have just given a normal response instead of this total nonsense—it's just not decent, if we're talking about being decent people.

P.S. Now Henry Moore2 is probably going to hit me with a ban or a strike, just because she can.

I could, but I’m not going to. There’s honestly just no point in arguing when we’ve all already reached the same conclusion. Look, I feel bad if this doesn't sit right with you personally, but it works for everyone else, and that’s how it's staying.
Maybe you think I'm being rude, but I don't think it's okay for you to be snappy with me, especially since you don't even know me. I've been trying for ages to make the threads on this forum easier to navigate and help everyone stay happy, but let's face it—you can't please everybody.

Believe me, the moderators aren't just sitting around at home dreaming up ways to make people's lives miserable. It’s not that I haven't had the time; it’s just that I don't see any reason to keep explaining things that ambermason16, rustydrifter10, and I have already made crystal clear.

As far as I'm concerned, this topic is closed.

Don't take this personally, but I'm not going to do it. I hear what you're saying, but the Canada threads needed a breather. We had to stop this endless Groundhog Day loop of "I want to go to Canada—now what?" playing out two billion times. That’s why we did this: we compiled a master contact list of every relevant institution dealing with immigration, employment, housing, and legal status. All those topics are still open for anyone to browse, and if they use the search function, they'll find exactly what they need. These questions have been answered dozens of times already. This new thread exists because it earned its place; it shouldn't be a glorified information desk at a Greyhound station. A forum isn't a lifeline for emigration, yet way too many people treat it like one.

Look, if someone from the USA or Australia boards decided to jump in and help us build an identical list, it would save them from the constant barrage of mindless questioning. It’s exhausting for everyone involved. Every third post requires someone to repeat the entire saga from scratch just because some person is too lazy to follow the standard procedure and actually contact the proper authorities.

Of course, there’s still space for the outliers—those urgent, unusual, or specific (brief) questions. In fact, I think we even mentioned that for those rare cases, people should just shoot us mods a PM and we'll try to dig up the info.

The goal here isn't to exclude or punish anyone. It's about giving the diaspora back to the diaspora while ensuring that the people who truly need info can actually find it. And that mission is accomplished.

That doesn't mean we aren't open to ideas on how to balance both sides of the coin. There might be a better way, but we haven't found it yet, and as far as we can tell, this system works fine. If you or anyone else has a better way to handle this—speak up. We’re on the same team. 🙂

edit: To make things easier to navigate, I've moved all the closed Canada threads into a sticky. At least for now. That way, if someone is hunting for an answer, they don't have to hunt for a thread; they can just start a new one and use the search bar.

@ Henry Moore2

I mean, what’s really the point of you chiming in if you aren't actually looking for an answer?
You don't even know me—it's kind of wild how you feel entitled to treat me like an idiot... you were the one being blunt right out of the gate, so I guess I had my reasons for calling you out...

Since you two decided to shut this thread down, why don't you just head over to my locked thread instead? There are actually several people over there who agree with me—and honestly, that topic was only unlocked for, what, half a day?

From what I can see around the forum, for every single post supporting your side, there are at least five others saying the exact opposite... look, if you're actually aiming for some kind of fair play—since you keep talking about making things easier for us—why not just run a poll? You know, since you claim you want to help... then we could actually see how many people are for it versus against it. If the majority wants everything locked down, fine, I won't say another word about Canada.

@ambermason16

I've laid out my suggestions... I can't really do much more than that. And as for all these random trolls—I honestly don't get why it's so difficult for people to just ignore them and their posts.

It’s not like anyone’s holding a gun to the forum users' heads, forcing them to answer irrational questions that have already been addressed a hundred times...

P.S. What does "sticky" actually mean in this context? Not the literal translation, obviously... it's just that when I type Canada into the forum search, I get a massive pile of threads that seem to have absolutely nothing to do with Canada.

That's why they irritate everyone else. People either joke back at them or point them toward the official websites. Then these rebels start picking fights, and suddenly you've got a problem on your hands. It's a pattern we've seen before. 🤷

P.S. what does "sticky" actually mean? Not the literal translation... when I type Canada into the forum search, I get a mountain of threads that have nothing to do with Canada (?!)

Sticky = pinned topic

As for the search tool, you just have to use it smart. Like, select the specific sub-forum you want to look in first, then search there. Use methods like that.

Back after a few days off and returning over the holidays to find two threads about Canada closed... replaced by CHAT regarding Canada.

Since my understanding is that CHAT is for free talk about anything and everything—I felt entitled to vent my frustration about the excessive control stifling open discussion. And because of that one post, I got hit with a warning card. My criticism was specifically aimed at the new moderation rules for immigration and life in Canada, and I voiced it on the one open forum dedicated to Canada.

The moderator, if I may say, seemed angry and vindictive with how she was handing out warnings.
After a few posts, she warned us to "stick to the topic" !?! ... In a CHAT?!?

Hello? You warn and penalize me in a chat for not sticking to a topic when the whole point of a chat is for the diaspora to hang out freely. From my liberal perspective, a chat shouldn't even be moderated.

Now, if according to you, every useful bit of info about living and immigrating to Canada should be carved in stone and set in stone forever... then I have no intention of showing up anymore. Why does a forum for this topic even exist at all... when everything is clearly laid out on CIC.com and other similar sites?
Thanks to Mr. Satra for his effort; his intentions were noble, but you moderators are the ones responsible for shutting down threads. You're simply killing the discussion.
Is this what you plan to do to the forums for other countries too?!!
Unbelievable.

Adios! I didn't come here to get stressed out or to be insulted and slapped with warning cards.

And to you, jadedrifter2—kudos for the hard work, the patience, and the decent way you handle things.
To you personally—respect and regards.

Just so we're clear, commenting on the mods on any sub-forum (except this one) gets you a strike. I don't see what the big deal is.
Doesn't matter if it's just a casual chat thread—if you start taking shots at the moderators, you're getting a card. 🤷

It's the same rule across all the chat threads, not just in the Diaspora section.

thanks for the support... though honestly, it’s cold comfort when you look at these rules. I can see this whole thread is slowly dying out, too. I’m actually starting to drift toward other forums and info sources myself—it feels like there isn't anything new being said here about Canada anymore. It’s a shame, really. We had such a great little community forming—a real solid base of people who could actually provide quality info—and then this happens. Everything just starts falling apart. Maybe that was the plan all along, who knows?

At this point, the place is turning into a forum for endless circular arguments and killing time by obsessing over trivial nonsense (just pure stupidity)

P.S. a quick request for the admins and moderators—brightpuma, please try to hold back on commenting on my posts

Terrible. They’re basically forcing you to follow the forum rules. Total tyrants. 🙂

I'm slowly switching over to other forums and info sources since there isn't anything new being said here about America... feels like a shame. We actually built a great community of people who could provide solid info, and then this happens—everything just falling apart. Maybe that was the plan all along.

Well, there isn't much new to say in general that hasn't already been covered. Besides, everyone wants answers handed to them on a silver platter. They can't be bothered to read the last 50 or 100 pages of a thread, yet they want to move halfway across the world.

It’s actually pretty sad. People move there, get disappointed later, and come back saying it wasn't all that great—completely ignoring the fact that they didn't do their homework first.

this is turning into a forum for wasting time and talking in circles about trivial nonsense (stupid stuff)

Yeah, that's usually what forums are for. Chatting, joking around, sharing news, etc. It's a different story if you're treating this like a help desk, and now that it isn't meeting your expectations, you're getting upset... 🙄

Looks like brightpuma finally managed to brainwash you. You're suddenly whining about the same old stuff on this forum just like we were last year.

I decided to leave the diaspora because that was exactly what the moderators wanted.

@ brightpuma

Here he goes again... honestly, some people just don't know when to quit—it’s almost impressive at this point.

You know what’s actually sad? It’s seeing people like you—who have zero actual connection to the whole emigration thing—jumping in to weigh in on questions about it.

The immigration laws are changing this year (2013), so what’s the point of me digging through the last 50 or 100 pages here? Most of it is just outdated rules that don't apply anymore. Where am I supposed to find real stories from people who will actually be moving under these new regulations?

And please, don't even bother replying to this. I already know you don't have the answer—just consider those questions rhetorical.

You're spot on, jadedrifter2!

"Inside Information" 😉
The Canadian government wants to fast-track skilled worker immigration so that by the end of this year, you can check both applicant numbers and employer demand directly on the official government site. Phenomenal, right?
Except we’ll probably have to wait another full year before they actually pull it off...

But if you ask the diaspora moderator, everything's already been said, so they've basically shut down any real conversation.

Idiots!🙄

Sure, and I feel like things have actually shifted—like how there’s a dedicated thread for employment within the European Union now. I still think we can do better, but honestly? It isn't nearly as disastrous as you all make it out to be.

What's actually sad is that I—someone "with no connection to emigration"—still know more than those who actually want to move. Instead of doing a little research, they just look for instant fixes.

The immigration laws are changing this year. How is reading the last 50 or 100 pages going to help me if they're just full of old rules that don't apply anymore? Where am I supposed to find real stories from people moving under these new regulations?

Has a new law actually passed? If not, then there's no reason to keep these threads open. Once the law is official, I'll be the first one rooting for these topics to stay up. But if we go back to the same recycled questions like, "I want to go work in Canada, how do I do that?" then I'll be right there with the moderators when they close them again.🤷

If that actually happens, it'll be amazing. At least for our youth who can't find steady jobs back home.

But honestly, if you ask the moderators of this diaspora group, they think everything’s already been covered. They’ve basically shut down any chance for real discussion.

Just look at what I sent to jadedrifter2 above. Once a new law actually gets passed, then it makes sense to start debating it or opening up new threads. That's when things change and we'll actually need fresh info. Right now? These threads would just be flooded with the same old stuff—people asking about working under the table, how to handle emigration, and those other fifty repetitive questions, all mixed in with endless guessing games about what the law might eventually look like.

And besides, can't we just talk about the speculation regarding the new law over in the current Canada thread? 🤷

I hate making statements like this—I know they don't sound pretty—but when someone tries to twist my words like this, I can't just sit back and take it.

So, you... Bradley Evans31... you claim you left the diaspora "because that was the moderators' goal".

First off, I have absolutely no idea who you are. I even went through the archives, checking infractions and my own notes... still nothing. I have no clue who you are. So, next time you feel the urge to drop such a heavy accusation, maybe try leaving a single footprint on this forum so we actually recognize you. Because what you're doing right now? It's pure slander.

Second, it has never been the goal of the moderators to drive someone away . It’s actually the exact opposite. But if a user simply refuses to follow the rules in the PDF, I’ll ban them. And if they keep up that same obnoxious attitude, I’ll push for a partial ban. I am certainly not going to chase you around until you decide to walk away on your own.

We don't have those motives, we don't have that modus operandi, we don't have the time for it, and we definitely don't have the interest. I still don't know who you are, and please, stop spreading these insults. They're offensive.

edit🙏I took a quick look at your post history and your infractions... and honestly, I still don't remember you. So I fail to see how I could possibly be "persecuting" you until you choose to leave. Based on those few posts you left on the diaspora, you really shouldn't have shown up here.

What is the issue with adding all these new changes, amendments, and updates to the master thread "Canada - Useful and Relevant Links"? It would keep everything in one place and make it easy to navigate. I don't see you or anyone else busting your backs trying to update the existing master thread with new links, yet when it comes to nitpicking and complaining, you're the first ones there—typical!

By the way, I don't follow hundreds of forums like some people do, but this is the first forum where I've seen a pzk sub-forum; on all the others I visit, it simply doesn't exist! If I were the owner, there wouldn't even be one here, but clearly, spoiled children need it.
