God, I just had this sudden flashback to my first year teaching back in Chicago. I had arranged an afternoon meeting with the handful of parents who actually showed up, and since they all worked during the day, I figured it was easier for them if we met later. I told them it was totally fine—I have the keys to the building, so there wouldn't be any issues.
Then, of course, I show up and realize I completely forgot to grab the keys. Two moms are standing right outside the school waiting for me, and what am I supposed to do? I just had to look them in the eye and admit I didn't have the keys, so instead of a meeting, I ended up just walking them through the neighborhood. 🤣
They actually told me later that it was the best parent-teacher conference 🤣 they’d ever attended.

Honestly, it was just such a disaster. ))
