They're pretty bombastic, actually.

EDIT: They’re actually quite good. It’s honestly kind of funny watching the same small group of people constantly circling one another—we really do have a tight-knit little scene here! And there are plenty of them, too.

I’ve never actually come across SGM before—that was my first introduction to them... well, their first sound, I guess. They seem solid, really good.👍
(Now I see they have a connection to "Faun Fables" (I've listened to "light of a Vaster dark"))

Oho, look who’s back in town! 👋 Welcome Back, Al Pacino 😁

NP: Einstürzende Neubauten - Alles in Allem... The album dropped today. That music video came out about two weeks ago, but we're all just waiting for it to hit the streaming sites properly 🙂

Dennis Hall41 said:Don't tell me Desire is your favorite Dylan record too. Is everyone just getting intoxicated by that violin? I honestly can't find a single soul who doesn't claim Desire is his best, aside from myself.
To me, that album feels somehow the least "Dylan-esque," which is to say it captures the absolute essence of what he is at his core. Even though it is undeniably brilliant.

But then again, who can truly claim to know Bob Dylan? The man is essentially made of living energy—he’s here one second and gone the next.

And speaking of being alive, he was the one who described his own sound as something visceral and mercurial back during the Blond on Blond era.

It's just one of those masterworks that never fails to fascinate me.

Fourth time Around

Actually, it has nothing to do with the album or even the violin; it's more about the harmonica. 😁
I don't know, it just feels like an incredibly intimate Bob Dylan song to me, and it's been beautiful to my ears since I was a kid.
Besides, your suggestion is just as valid.

If I ever need help again, I've already found someone! All on my own! Without any assistance whatsoever! 🤣

Well, look who finally decided to show up! 👋

Don't mention it, friend. 🤣

Let's just review the material 😲 😁

So, I see they’ve finally added a link to Faun Fables (I was listening to Light of a Vaster dark).

Hibernation Tales

These guys? They’re probably the one band I’d actually give my money to if they were still touring. But they’re gone—end of story. Nils and his wife have moved on to Faun Fables now, while the drummer and the violinist went their own ways. Rabbit rabbit.
Nils is still holding onto it for now. Free salamander exhibit? Seems too good to be true—but I suppose if you've got nothing better to do this weekend, why not?
And Carla—the violinist—was also somewhat involved in that. Charming hostess. If I’m following this correctly—
And here they are, too. tin hat (trio), Two feet of yard space? Hardly enough to call it a lawn., The Book of Knots. Simple enough, right? Yet, there's an entire philosophy tucked between those pages—a study of tension, friction, and how much pressure a single point can actually take before everything unravels. It’s more than just utility; it's about structure. Or perhaps, more accurately, it's about control. There are plenty of guests involved—take this Blixa track, for instance. :D
Mostly just a creative bunch.

:f

That band has such a beautiful sort of sadness to them :/ I believe that track was actually a tribute to Ian Curtis—they shared the same stage, even if their sound didn't exactly fit the vibe there😁 I stumbled upon them through a weird cover by Espers, where I was once and then again completely obsessed for six months straight
I recall reading somewhere that Vini was struggling financially—that they were actually collecting donations for him :/

If someone's look helps them reach a bigger crowd—I'm totally fine with that—especially when the music is this damn good.

And your suggestion works too.

I always realize too late that someone’s replied to me—so I can never quite pull off a coherent, deep dive post like those "Ask Lastan" columns.😁

Sara is probably one of his genuinely tender love songs—alongside stuff like Simple twist of Fat or you're a Big Girl Now. Not that he’s incapable of those emotions, but he’s much more convincing when he’s being sarcastic—think Positively 4th Street or don't think Twice...

You can really hear how much this song meant to him back then—especially in this live version, which I actually prefer over the studio cut. It sounds even more vulnerable than it does on Desire, and his voice hits these emotional notes that only a few people ever truly reach. I'll say it every time—Bob Dylan is one of the greatest singers to ever do it.

We were just talking about folk music and country stuff down there—but this one feels more like a deep blues ballad, if you know what I mean. It’s absolutely brilliant. Honestly, it’s one of the most haunting and gut-wrenching tracks I’ve ever heard.

Good grief, at this rate, we’ll end up treating Miljenko Jergović like some kind of ultimate cultural touchstone.
And honestly, while I have nothing against Tamara Obrovac—really, all respect to her—I find this whole thing incredibly tedious. 🥱

Well, Tamara 😁 🙂

I think you might have misread the situation. 😉
After I—the supposed "benchmark" here—brought up Taylor, he actually ended up writing a whole piece about her.

Oh, really? I don't know a ton about them myself. Yeah, they don't sound strictly post-punk, and they aren't exactly staples in those circles, but there's definitely something there—just from a quick listen, this one track really stuck with me, and "Tomorrow" is great too. Also, I'm seeing hidden references everywhere; they have "154" on the album cover, which might be a little nod to Wire, since everyone was basically ripping off their style! 😁 :tonycetinski:

NP: Giving The Only Ones a shot. I only know that one song everyone knows, but they don't sound bad at all—you just have to get used to the vocals.

After I—the absolute benchmark for any discussion here—offered my take on Tamara, he just couldn't help himself and went on this endless, rambling tirade about her.

Tamara Bajagić?🥱
No, Sabrina.☕

🤣 Fine, I'll accept that first. 👍 😁 Honestly, you aren't even contributing anything meaningful to this mindless, high-octane debate. 😁

I still maintain my position that listening to that old-school Appalachian yodeling is enough to drive anyone absolutely up the wall. 🙂
Take a listen to this playful American pop classic and come to your own conclusion about what actually works better.
Thanks, thanks, thanks. div>
