Hey,

Since I'm currently out of the country, I can snag this laptop at a much better price than what's listed here, plus I can dodge the sales tax. It’d end up being around $900. What do you guys think about it for gaming? How’s the cooling, does it have enough RAM and all that? Thanks.

If you can snag that thing for $900, don't even blink. Just grab it.

Thanks. I’m asking because I keep seeing people complain about cooling issues on similar Dell models, so I wanted to check if this one runs hot. Honestly, I think an i5 is plenty for gaming since the GPU is solid. Maybe he just needs more RAM?

Upgrading the RAM is a total breeze if you actually bother to look for it. Honestly, 8GB should get you through the door just fine. Cooling isn't half bad either.

Even better. $866 with tax, about $700 before tax :-)!

The shop I bought this from won't touch the RAM upgrade. I can do it myself since I know my way around a laptop, but will it tank my warranty? Does anyone know what HP's actual policy is on this?

Look, if your rig has a maintenance hatch on the back, you're golden—you won't void the warranty. But if you actually have to crack the whole chassis open just to swap parts? Don't be a hero. Just take it to an authorized service center to get it installed.

Nah, you gotta pull the whole bottom panel off. There are 10 screws holding it together.

That shouldn't mess with the warranty.
