Based on the Dark Horse Comics series, this action superhero film follows Hellboy as he attempts to thwart an ancient evil—one that is apparently hellbent on wiping out humanity.

Honestly, Del Toro's movies featuring Ron Perlman feel way more solid than whatever this is.

Hellboy really needs to be dark—I mean, steeped in horror—but based on this trailer, all those gritty, classic Hellboy themes seem to have been swapped out for something light, bubbly, and just plain "fun."

Looking at this trailer, it’s pretty obvious how much the internet's constant bashing of darker DC movies and the massive success of Deadpool has fundamentally shifted the whole concept of what a superhero flick is supposed to be.

Hellboy tends to be pretty sarcastic, but you can tell Harbour definitely carries a bit of that Perlman charisma. Milla's film will carry the whole thing. 😁

There's definitely some truth to that. I had the exact same thought while watching the third Thor installment:
That whole 80s pop culture vibe—think synthpop, dark humor, being totally explicit...

Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, Thor, and now Hellboy. It feels like they're all following the same "new age" superhero formula.

Honestly, if you ask me, this looks like absolute garbage.

I honestly loved the first two movies so much—I was always wondering when we’d finally get a third installment—but I just don't think it'll be the same without Perlman. I mean, look, as much as Ron Perlman might not be the typical leading man type, this version is even uglier... honestly, I think the mask looks worse. I'm just not feeling it 👎

Hmm, we've got Neil Marshall behind the camera. Honestly, I’m feeling pretty optimistic about this one—the guy just doesn't seem to know how to make a bad movie!

Some superheroes and certain themes just work... but others? Not so much.

I actually had no clue—someone mentioned a long time ago that he was a Marvel character, but I never really bothered to look it up. Not that it matters much, though... personally, I think Hellboy is just so 😍

Even if that last Hellboy flick didn't exactly blow me away, I’m still pretty skeptical about this one... especially since we won't have Ron Perlman back in the role 😢

It looks like it’ll be good, but that voice of David Harbour's 🤦 I’m probably going to have to watch the trailer 657 times just to get used to it before the movie actually drops.

Personally, I thought Hellboy 2 was way better than the first one, so I’ve got high hopes that the third installment will be the absolute best of the bunch!

I don't know, I just feel like Perlman is a total letdown as Hellboy. I was obsessed with those comics when I was a kid, and man, the movies just really bummed me out—it feels like everything Del Toro makes is just geared toward kids, I guess.

The film didn't exactly win over the critics, did it? It sits at a mere 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Perlman isn't even Hellboy anymore.

I mean, honestly, it’s probably the smartest move they could make for the franchise. They really need to strip it all back and rebuild from square one, you know? Like, without that one guy who just seems to use the exact same facial expressions and tired old gags in every single role he’s ever played.

Honestly, Perlman was born to play Hellboy. It was absolute perfection when they cast him.
I’m holding off on any thoughts regarding Harbour until I actually sit down and watch the movie myself... but based on the early reviews hitting the internet, I should probably keep my expectations in the gutter.

Perelman's Hellboy movies only did okay because they had Del Toro's name attached to them—end of story. If anyone else had directed them, they would've flopped hard. Don't get me wrong, I actually kind of like them, but honestly? They’re pretty mediocre... The first one is just... fine, I guess. It's got these nauseating action sequences that drag on forever, loaded with terrible CGI, and then it just turns into some weird episode of General Hospital where we have to sit through Heller moping around over some woman. There are a few decent moments here and there, but those movies underperformed at the box office for a reason.
