Why am I seeing this error whenever I try to open a document in Word?

It eventually opens, but it's incredibly slow.
I don't get what the issue is. I have about 80 GB free on my SSD out of 120. My RAM isn't even two-thirds full. Everything seems fine, as usual.

It’s just like they said in the message—you're running low on hard drive space... Is this happening with every single one of your Word documents, or is it just acting up with this specific one? Have you tried running a repair or maybe a full reinstall of Office yet?

It’s happening with all my Word documents. I don't get what they mean about running out of space. I have 80GB of extra room on my SSD.

If you're staring at that annoying "insufficient memory or disk space" error when trying to load fonts in Microsoft Word, don't panic. It’s actually a pretty straightforward fix.

First, type %appdata% into the Windows search panel and hit enter. Once that %appdata% folder opens, navigate through the Microsoft folder and find the Templates folder. Inside, locate the "Normal" file, right-click it, and rename it to "old." Finally, restart Your computer to apply The changes to open Your MS Office Word without Any problems !

(The specific path for the "Normal" file is C:\ Users\User's name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm).

Everything you need is laid out right here.

Noah Miller6, I actually tried that before starting this thread and it worked fine. But as soon as I rebooted my PC, everything went right back to how it was.

If it's bouncing back like that, there's gotta be a bug in Office. Check if there's an update waiting... 😉

In that case, I’ll just reinstall it. Not really in the mood to deal with all that hassle.

You could've just done that two days ago. 🤣
