I’ve had quite a frustrating afternoon—I actually went ahead and downloaded that old movie "Corrina Corrina" (1994) specifically for my mother, only to discover that the one subtitle file available was completely out of sync with the actual footage
. After that little debacle, I spent some time scouring the web to see if there might be a version with a proper translation somewhere, and I thought I finally struck gold here
. Well, I downloaded it, but it turns out the file was just the movie itself—no subtitles included at all
. Does anyone happen to know the best way to grab the correct subtitle file for this one?

So, I went on a bit of a hunt to see if there was an actual version online with decent subtitles, and I finally managed to track one down here
The problem is, I downloaded it, but it just gave me the movie file without any of the subtitle tracks attached...
Does anyone actually know how to grab the subtitle file along with it?

I can't really test it right this second, but you might want to try using JDownloader 2... it usually scrapes everything available on a page. If that doesn't work, your best bet is probably installing Subtitle Workshop 2.51 and just manually syncing the file... honestly, it’s usually a thirty-second fix once you get the hang of it. Here is a guide: https://www.prijevodi-online.org/smf...c,12022.0.html
Using the two dots or hitting alt+m is typically the easiest way to go...

I gave it a shot using Subtitle Workshop, but honestly, it’s a lost cause—the timing is completely out of sync with the video.
At first, I manage to get the initial subtitles perfectly aligned, but as the movie progresses toward the end, they start lagging further and further behind the action.
It’s a frustrating cycle—if I try to recalibrate everything to fix those final lines, then the middle section becomes a total mess.
Getting these things to line up correctly feels absolutely impossible.
I truly can't wrap my head around who handled the subtitling for this release—what on earth were they watching when they timed these?

I try to sync the initial subtitles, but by the time the movie reaches the end, they're lagging further and further behind.
If I adjust for the final scenes, the middle section falls apart.
It feels impossible to get them right.
Honestly, who even subtitled this? Based on what footage?

Every subtitle you find online in American English is put together by volunteers working for free. Usually, right under the file, it explicitly states exactly which video version those subtitles were timed for.
For more niche titles, it’s much easier to track down an English version, but then you're stuck doing the translation work yourself. 👍

The issue I'm running into is that I can only find one subtitle file—an American one—and it claims to be at 25.000 FPS
However, according to the movie metadata, the actual frame rate is 23.976 FPS
I've been scouring the web, but I simply cannot find a single download link for a version of the film that actually runs at 25.000 FPS
Is it actually possible to convert a subtitle file from 25.000 down to 23.976 FPS?

Did you try syncing it by adjusting the frame rate using that tutorial I sent over? It might be a bit more of a headache on your end depending on how the file is structured...
First, you just change the FPS, then you nudge the subtitles bit by bit using the alt+m shortcut. Everything is laid out in the guide. This method is actually pretty fast, though it really depends on how many times you have to shift things around...

The most tedious way to sync anything would be to install Subscene, load up the video and the subs, and then just sit there watching the movie and clicking a button every single time someone speaks. That’s basically manual line-by-line synchronization...

As for different versions of the movie, you should check out The Pirate Bay, Paradise Island, WarezBoard, Bold.cd, alluc.eu, Upload, or RARBG...

Someone should grab the Sublight program,

Once you open a movie with it, the software automatically hunts down subtitles for you—it even lets you check if they’ll actually fit the film, you know, to make sure the sync isn't totally off.

I gave Sublight a shot as well—only to find a single subtitle file, and wouldn't you know it, it was also stuck at some ridiculous 25.000 FPS.

Well, if nobody bothered to get it translated into American English, then that's just how it goes—tough luck, I guess.

Look, there actually is an American translation available—I’ve downloaded it myself—but honestly, the subtitles are a complete mess and don't match the dialogue at all.

Did you name the subtitle file exactly like the movie title? Just let me give you an example...

Björn Borg vs. John McEnroe.2017.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H264-FGT
Björn Borg vs. John McEnroe.2017.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H264-.srt (this would be the subtitle filename)

Of course I kept the filename identical—if I hadn't, the subtitles wouldn't have synced up at all.

When it comes to syncing subtitles, the best free tool out there is Time Adjuster.

Just head over to the sync section and align the first and last captions. If things are still messy—which doesn't happen much—you can just slice the AVI into segments, fix the subs, and stitch it all back together... 🍿

And heads up, you'll need to make sure the subtitle file is in ANSI format, otherwise Time Adjuster won't even open it.
