Matthew Anderson said:We are discussing... I'm having some trouble locating the PDF containing that specific topic. Does anyone know where it's been filed?Look, let’s not play games here. I’m not going to dignify the rest of this mindless nonsense with a response.

So, we've reached the point where the moderators are expected to act as the ultimate arbiters of what constitutes a joke and what doesn't. It’s a slippery slope, isn't it? Honestly, it feels like we're witnessing the opening salvo of outright censorship. 👍

I suspect you follow that same logic when it comes to making things look foolish, don't you?
Even though you hold a moderator position, that doesn't make you an authority on jokes. You aren't a supermod or an admin, so you lack the actual standing to dictate policy on this specific issue.

Matthew Anderson said:Allow me to clarify my position.

I can certainly wrap my head around why a joke about Roma might be considered inappropriate under certain community guidelines; there is no denying that such topics can unnecessarily inflame tensions regarding sensitive social issues. However, I fail to see the necessity of scrubbing those specific jokes from a platform dedicated to dark humor. By its very nature, a site built for that kind of wit should be able to tolerate a bit of edge without losing its identity.

Censoring humor—even when it’s objectively terrible—is a dangerous slippery slope. Once you start policing jokes, you inevitably run into a wall where someone will eventually demand the removal of a punchline about blondes, or perhaps a jab at Canadians, or whatever else they find offensive. It starts with good intentions, but it always ends with the systematic stifling of free expression.

It’s always interesting to see how people behave online. You have someone go out of their way to write that you’re trash, claim your mother is trash, and then add that it’s no surprise that trash produced more trash. It really highlights the sheer level of immaturity some people carry around.
Is that supposed to be humor?
Would it truly wound me to see such heavy-handed censorship take place—assuming, of course, that the moderation on this forum stays strictly within its own rules—resulting in the deletion of that specific post and a permanent ban for the individual who authored it?

Jamie Davis9 As I was saying:
I find it perfectly clear that this is nothing more than a joke. What I am trying to tell you is that nobody on this forum would ever get away with calling Jews trash without facing consequences.
Not even the Mexicans, then. 🙂
It’s essentially a bit of both, if you look at it that way. It sits in that gray area where one thing bleeds into the other, making it difficult to pin down with any real precision. I've found myself facing similar ambiguities quite often in my own experience—situations where you try to categorize something, only to realize the labels don't quite fit the reality of the matter. It’s a nuanced distinction, but yes, it’s somewhat of a mix. 🥱If we take a step back and look at this through the lens of modernism, things start to look quite different.
You see, that particular mindset is what truly unsettles me.

It bothers me too, though I'm not losing any sleep over it.
I find myself in complete agreement with your sentiment. In my view, no single group should hold more or less privilege than another; everyone deserves to be treated with the same level of equality. Furthermore, I believe that everyone, regardless of their background, should have the right to be the subject of a good joke.
There is a fundamental distinction between genuine wit and outright hate speech, though it seems some people struggle to grasp that nuance.

bluecyclist64 said:I’m pretty sure those same rules apply to you when it comes to making things look stupid, don't you think?
Look, just because you hold a moderator title doesn't mean you're some kind of supreme authority on jokes. You aren't a supermod or an admin, so you really don't have much say in this particular area.

Not bad, you didn't either.

bluecyclist64 said:It’s pretty wild when someone goes out of their way to tell you you're trash, claim your mother is trash, and then concludes that it's no surprise that trash produced more trash.
Is that supposed to be funny?
Would it actually kill you to see some heavy-handed censorship—which, let's be honest, is exactly how this forum is run according to the rules—where that post gets nuked and the idiot who wrote it gets banned?

So, we’re all in agreement that there’s absolutely no distinction between a personal insult and a joke. Bravo. 👍

Matthew Anderson said:I’ve already heard that one floating around as some tired joke. Personally, I don't find it funny at all—it's just incredibly dull. I suppose there are people out there who actually laugh at it, but what are we supposed to do about that?

What are we supposed to do?

We can simply delete it, can't we?

I highly doubt you'll feel any sense of loss over removing something that is fundamentally mediocre and lacks even a shred of humor.

Matthew Anderson said:Great, you aren't either.

So we’re essentially in agreement regarding the line between a personal insult and a joke. Bravo. 👍

I am honestly speechless; this is as low as it gets.

In your view, is there really a distinction if someone tells you, "Phifer, you're typically a piece of trash," versus saying, "All you Americans—whether you're an American, a Mexican, or an Eskimo—are all just pieces of trash"?

bluecyclist64 said:Honestly, I find this whole thing pretty unsettling too.
I’m right there with you in thinking that no single group should hold more weight than another, and that everyone deserves to be the butt of a joke now and then.
The problem is that some people just can't seem to tell the difference between actual wit and blatant hate speech.

Personally, I’ll take it a step further and argue that as long as people belonging to any specific national, religious, or even social group on this forum—given how incredibly obsessed with political correctness they usually are—can call others "trash" without facing any consequences, then those same people are absolutely entitled to use every tool at their disposal, legitimate or otherwise, to show exactly what kind of idiots they're dealing with. It’s a vicious cycle, plain and simple.
I’m starting to worry that phiber doesn't quite grasp the gravity of the situation. 🙂

Matthew Anderson said:Who gets to decide what falls into which rank? 🍿

Look, if you can't see the massive distinction between those two "ranks"—honestly, I don't even know how to explain it to you. The difference is glaringly obvious and felt by anyone paying attention; it isn't something that needs some official decree to make it real.

Since this thread has veered off into total chaos while everyone else sits around overthinking their next move, I’m going back to my original question regarding whether posting one's own absolute garbage photos could actually serve as some sort of twisted sense of humor on a PDF joke file.

That is precisely what defines this brand of liberal feminism

It won't be long before we see another thread popping up about blonde women, too

I find myself most perplexed by you, Judo

bluecyclist64 said:No, the issue isn't just whether it's funny; it's the fact that you're ignoring how old this joke is. This "joke" has been circling the drain for years now.
Would you treat an artistic mural painted on a wall back in 2006 the same way you'd treat a hateful political slogan spray-painted on a fence?
Do you see the distinction there?

Look, even if it’s revolting and brutal, it still functions as a joke because it provides some sort of punchline—a twist on a setup. But that "joke" where the punchline is just a racial slur? That’s pure idiocy. The only people who could find that remotely amusing are complete morons. To appreciate actual humor, you need at least a baseline level of intelligence.

You missed the mark. The second and third jokes fall under dark humor—it’s edgy and offensive, sure, but it’s still humor. And for dark humor to work, it *has* to be edgy.
The first "joke" is just a lazy trope where the insult is the entire punchline.

Hold on a second—do you actually think this is funny?

Wait, let me ask you: do you honestly find this funny:

What do you get when someone steps in sheep droppings?

An average minority citizen.

hahahahahhaaha

hahaha
haha
ha
haaa...
aa...
a

Which version is more clever or witty? 🍿

Alright, if you've been completely brainwashed by low-brow internet trolls, then I guess your lack of wit is somewhat excusable.🎉

This is terrifying. You’re actually positioning yourself as some kind of authority on what constitutes humor. 🤦

What makes humor universal anyway? And especially your specific brand of it?

Weren't you one of the people fighting against the narrow-minded conformity of the old regime? What kind of thinking is this? Seriously?
Matthew Kern said:That's just typical liberal feminism right there.

I bet a thread about blondes will pop up next.

Neonfox12, you're the one I'm most baffled by.

This has nothing to do with feminism. Being close-minded is a state of mind, regardless of what group you belong to.

That isn’t a joke; it’s straight-up hate speech.

Dark humor is supposed to poke fun at a stereotype or a specific fact about a group of people. Calling Rom and Juliet names isn't "humor"—it's just being a jerk.

Now, this is what I call dark humor:

What do you call a Gypsy without hands?

- A trustworthy man.

But this? This has absolutely nothing to do with jokes or comedy:

And this is just an insult, plain and simple:

"What do you get when you shovel sheep manure?
- An average Gypsy."

You can't even compare jokes about blondes, Ivy, Mary, Percy, or those other fictional archetypes to jokes targeting actual ethnic groups.

You guys are unbelievable.

You really seem to enjoy playing judge and jury, don't you?

What happens when someone actually shows up and starts a full-blown war over that little joke of yours regarding the man of trust?

Honestly, we all need to step up and act like our own little judges, learning how to tell the difference between actual dark humor and genuine hate speech.

It shouldn't be that hard.

If blondes and cops are considered fictional caricatures, then how come Canadians, Mexicans, and Gypsies aren't?

Go jump in a lake. 😳

analogowl4 said:Everyone ought to step up and act as a judge, distinguishing mere comedy—even the darker, more cynical varieties—from genuine hate speech.

It isn't a difficult task.

Of course, it is quite easy to believe that such a thing is simple when one fails to grasp the underlying complexity.

Go screw yourself. 😳

Well, let us consider, for instance, that there is a user on this very forum using the handle a.c.a.b.
That specific acronym is legally categorized as an insult toward law enforcement officers, yet the individual continues to post quite regularly. And frankly, I fail to see why they shouldn't.

First off, let’s get one thing straight: we aren't here to ban dark humor or jokes about the Roman Empire, blondes, or Canadians... That’s just not how this works. But there is a massive difference between actual wit and just posting mindless, idiotic nonsense that makes you wonder if it even belongs on a public forum. Take that joke about the poop, for instance—even for someone like me who absolutely loves dark humor, that wasn't funny at all. It’s not because of the language used, but because it felt like such an incredibly childish attempt to be offensive under the guise of a joke. Look, I don't think it's the moderators' job to play judge and jury on what counts as "funny," but they *do* need to set boundaries. Most of those posts clearly weren't written to entertain anyone; they felt more like people just venting their own bitterness. I'm going to touch base with the supermod and we'll go through and scrub those two or three posts that went way too far, but we aren't going to start censoring or deleting things just because (we) personally didn't find them hilarious.
