Why?

The debate was actually going somewhere—it was constructive. Now, this whole thing just looks like someone’s trying to play favorites with the moderator, Laluna.

The whole thread was just fueling racism, and honestly, I mostly just found people insulting each other on all sorts of different grounds. It wasn't constructive at all—and look, this isn't about the moderator, it’s just about the general tone being totally off.

The whole point here is how other nations view Americans living abroad. Obviously, people are going to bring up things like nationality, religion, or culture—though race isn't really part of this specific conversation.
If you actually think my take is that biased, there were plenty of ways to moderate the discussion instead of just slamming the door shut immediately.

By the way, I’ve noticed a lot of people getting pretty heated on a few threads over in the diaspora and nothing else.

Did you report them?

And if I do, is the whole thread just gonna get nuked?
Like how that other thread got shut down?

Why would anyone even bother reporting stuff if that's the case? If one single person feels offended and hits that report button, why should that be enough to kill an entire discussion?
A ton of the threads in the diaspora and nothing else are actually vital—personally, they made my move to the States so much easier, and I bet a lot of others feel the same way. If threads just get locked up without giving people a chance to talk it out or use some actual logic to reach a conclusion—then what’s even the point?

Look, I get where the moderators are coming from, but the rules here are super "flexible"—it feels like the decisions are based on whatever vibe someone is getting in the moment.

Why would you even go that route? If one person feels targeted and hits that report button, why does that mean the entire conversation has to die?
So many threads in the diaspora and nothing else are actually vital. Personally, they made my move to the States so much easier, and I’m sure a lot of others feel the same way. If topics just get nuked without giving people a chance to talk it out or use logic to reach a conclusion—well, then what’s the point?

I totally get where the moderators are coming from, but the rules feel pretty loose, and it seems like decisions are being made based on a lot of gut feelings rather than hard facts.

A thread won't be locked if it can still be saved or if it's staying productive. I took a look at the other posts—both the ones deleted and the ones left up—and honestly, it wasn't much of a constructive discussion anyway; it was mostly just people venting and throwing shade at one another.

As for any other threads, go ahead and report them, and we'll take a look. Thanks.
