Well, that explains why I never saw it on those "best double album" lists. 😁

I totally forgot we were deep in the CD player era by then—since I still think of CDs as relatively modern tech, which is a dead giveaway that I'm way too damn old for my vinyl-loving, 33 RPM self.😁

No need for an explanation there.

The Doors - Filigree Paving Stone
Full of great tracks that don't get nearly enough credit.

Bob Dylan - The Basement Tapes.
A collection of songs that, for whatever reason, didn't make the cut on his previous studio albums.

Led Zeppelin - Acoustic Trauma; it's a live recording, but it's damn good, so I'm mentioning it.

Man... those were the days.
I remember being just a kid in elementary school; my grandmother handed me fifty bucks for my birthday, and I spent thirty-two dollars and sixty cents on a new The Doors record, while all the other double albums were going for about twenty-eight eighty.
Hell, Johnny was overpriced because he was just plain shameless, so my buddies dismissed him as total junk...

I completely forgot we were already deep into the CD player era by then. I still view CDs as something relatively modern, which is a dead giveaway that I am way too old for my own good, having grown up on 33 RPM vinyl.😁

It honestly drives me crazy when I stumble upon an album on YouTube that runs for over an hour, maybe even two, while I'm sitting at home with the actual record that only lasts about forty minutes.
Just load up all those bonus tracks, let Mark Nofler have a little hiccup in the studio, and then let's just start the whole recording process from scratch.

A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson - King Crimson
Work I - Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Two truly remarkable albums here; they possess a hypnotic quality that makes them an absolute pleasure to experience.

The latter functions quite well as minimalist background music.

Stevie Wonder - Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants - 1979

And yes, as noted, filigree paving stone, a masterpiece by Branimir...

Four pages of avant-garde improvisation. It’s mostly acoustic instrumentation, though they tucked a guitar into the mix here and there. But really, the mix is the star of the show. They ran the recordings through all sorts of filters and spliced them together in ways that feel truly experimental. It's original stuff, and honestly, pretty high quality.

Man, there’s so much good stuff out there. Honestly, I don't even want to overthink it too much. The first two tracks that popped into my head were "Why Not" by Orgasm and "Again" by discipline Kitschme.
