Hey everyone—I'm looking to pick up a 144Hz gaming monitor. I was leaning towards the Dell UltraSharp, but my current GPU doesn't support G-Sync on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX. Is this still worth grabbing? Will I actually be able to hit the full 144Hz with this card? Thanks in advance for any help.

Your graphics card is compatible with that monitor, but you won't be hitting 144 fps when playing demanding games.

G-Sync should work for you, but hitting 144 FPS? I guess that really depends on which games you're playing and how high you crank the settings. You'll probably need to dial things down quite a bit if you're tackling the more demanding titles.

It feels a bit weird that FreeSync is supported on basically every GPU from the R7 260 up except for the 270 series... 🤔
We should probably dig into this a bit.

EDIT: Alright, I looked into it. The 280x, 280, 270x, 270, and 265 don't support FreeSync (aside from power saving and video playback) because they're just repackaged HD7800 series cards—meaning they run on GCN 1.0. Meanwhile, those dynamic FreeSync refresh rates require GCN 1.1 or higher.
