I’m not sure if this PDF or the thread itself is appropriate—please move this topic if it doesn't belong here.

Two weeks ago, I picked up a brand-new printer, but for some inexplicable reason, it refuses to pull any paper from the tray.

I followed the instructions included with the paper—removed all the shipping tape, set everything up properly, and went through the motions.

Installed the drivers via CD...

And even though the device shows it's ready to go, it keeps throwing an "out of paper" error at me.🤷
I have adjusted the paper format settings and tried loading different amounts of paper into the tray, but the status remains stubbornly stuck on: "no paper."

Where is the flaw in my logic? I've combed through the settings and everything appears perfectly configured, yet it still insists there is no paper.

It worked exactly once—it churned out about 15 pages of some junk documents I scribbled down just to test the machine—and after that single successful run, it has been nothing but failure ever since.

Now I am at a loss. Is there some specific number of pages required for it to trigger—which, naturally, isn't mentioned in the manual—or am I simply messing up the loading process? It makes no sense to me. Or perhaps there is a secondary step I need to take after loading the paper but before hitting print?🤔

If you had specified the printer model, we might actually be able to help you.
It could be a hardware failure, in which case you should file a warranty claim. It might be a manufacturing defect or damage from shipping.
Some printers are sensitive to paper volume; try loading just 10 sheets, or perhaps 30.
Are you certain the paper is loaded correctly? Most printers require the stack to be pushed quite deep into the tray.

Are you certain the paper tray is seated correctly? It needs to go deep into the machine, which is standard for most models.

Phaser 3020.

The unit arrived perfectly packaged—brand new, no damage. I actually called them two days ago to tell them *not* to send it because it seemed to be working fine at first, but then after letting it sit unused for a week, I tried to print something and now it's dead again.

I'll follow your suggestion and test different quantities—starting with 10 sheets, then 30—to see if that fixes it.

And yes, I am sure about how the paper is loaded.
