Richard Morales79 said:I have to chime in here too. I used to check that thread regularly and contribute, but I ended up getting banned for something that everyone else was allowed to do—just a bit of lightheartedness. It's funny how irony is tolerated now, yet a simple joke isn't. So, I just walked away from the Betting Shop topic entirely. On top of that, I actually dealt with some insults from the moderator Eric Fox7 when I asked a perfectly normal question in the chat thread.

The moderators might be doing their jobs okay most of the time, but there's definitely a double standard happening somewhere, and they're the only ones who know why. Like shadowgardener10 mentioned, they really need to decide if they’re going to lead with common sense or just blindly enforce the rulebook.

Richard Morales79 said:Just so we aren't always complaining about bans and strikes, let's have a thread where we can actually give the mods some credit for once.

As far as I'm concerned, a huge thumbs up for the mod team—Eric Fox7,STINGer,YELLOW ANTS and valsimot53.

Like I said before, moderation is fine—they probably turn a blind eye on other threads too. My point was more about your general vibe when you communicate—you tend to mock people, tell them to take it to private messages, or just straight up call them assholes.

I’ve actually taken plenty of cards myself for that kind of thing—mostly when I'm talking outside the main BetMGM boards—and I took them without complaining. 🤷
If you don't believe me, just ask Nica. 🙂

Look, if being sarcastic about a question that’s been asked twenty-four times already—when there's literally a dedicated megathread for it—is a crime, then go ahead and kill me. It doesn't deserve anything better than a snarky reply.

I believe you. However, if you think it's acceptable for a moderator to conduct themselves that way, then we have a problem. I haven't seen anyone else acting like this besides you. Posts like that are a blatant insult to the community, and usually, they result in much heavier penalties. But fine. Whatever.

Ethan Jones5 said:I still don't get what the big deal is about writing an analysis.🤷

Here's a super basic example I just pulled out of thin air..

AC Milan vs. Fiorentina

Out of their last 7 head-to-head matchups, 6 went over. Both teams have minimal injuries and are in great scoring form right now..

That’s a totally simple example of a bet with an explanation. It takes maybe 20 seconds to write, but you can clearly see the logic behind it..

The reason you guys keep harassing the moderators isn't because writing two lines is too hard for you. It's because you want everything done your way...

As for the cliques, all I'll say is that these "clique members" have complained about the rules and warnings many times before...

Look, I have nothing against you complaining, but this is just a forum. You aren't forced to participate here, unlike how you're forced to live in this country. So either accept things as they are or go somewhere else—it won't cost you much more than moving to a new state would..

Don't get me wrong, I don't always agree with how the moderators handle things either, and I've even made suggestions myself since some of the issues weren't even that big of a deal..

If something really bothered me the way it bothers you, I'd just stop visiting the forum whenever my opinion wasn't being taken into account..

George Barnes25, thanks for reminding me, but I don't see any point in this "fight" of yours.🤷

In my book, that isn't even a decent analysis because it doesn't help much more than just listing a few picks; if you're gonna call it an analysis, it should be at least a few sentences, not just something superficial.

Quote:Bryan Adams6 says:
San Francisco Giants - Colorado Rockies
San Francisco over 3,5@1,75 SS
San Francisco over 4@1,92 Bet365

The Giants are definitely charging toward the playoffs, and tonight's opponent shouldn't be much of a hurdle for another win.
Chacin has been struggling against the Giants this season, giving up two runs twice—both in losses, 0-7 and 8-9, and that second one was just six days ago.
SF has only failed to clear 3.5 runs twice in 14 games this season; they love to hammer the Rockies regardless of who is on the mound, so why would tonight be any different?

Now *this* is an example of an analysis that might actually satisfy someone. When I write an analysis, I write it properly—even though I think the whole thing is stupid, a minority decided this is how it's gotta be, and around here, the minority is always right.

Eric Fox7 said:Regarding those subjective opinions—claims that Eric Fox7 and Joshua Garcia8 aren't cut out for moderation, or accusations of laziness because they lack some "instinct" for it—I honestly don't even want to dignify that with a response. I'm not interested in sinking to that level of debate. 😉

Like I’ve said many times before, we’re all human, and mistakes happen—it's just part of life. No one is making moves out of malice here. If you see posts that you believe violate the sub-forum rules, just report them, and they'll be dealt with if they actually break the rules. I can't possibly read every single post across every single thread—I'm not a robot, after all, and I have a real life to attend to—so occasionally, things slip through the cracks. Also, dragging discussions about moderation into the University of California betting parlor sub-forum won't be tolerated. That's not how I want to communicate. If there's any confusion or if you have questions, use the PM feature.

As for those controversial entries over in the football this month sub-forum, here is a quick excerpt from the rules:

When posting a parlay or specific pairs, you need to include a brief explanation—the key reasons why you're betting on that specific combo. When we pick a parlay, the assumption is that it wasn't just a random guess; we should have actual reasoning behind it. Since we have those reasons, it shouldn't be an issue to list them out...

Engaging in a discussion (provided it's reasoned) about the parlays is allowed—in fact, it's encouraged.
Commenting on the events you bet on is perfectly fine, provided you stick to the sub-forum rules.

The only thing that doesn't surprise me is how the exact same names keep popping up constantly in threads like these. 🙂

I'm still waiting for aron49 to show up, and then it'll be official. 🙂

True—you always see Eric Fox7 and Joshua Garcia8 hanging around—I guess some people just can't help themselves, right? 🤷 But you're spot on; it's really just our little group of agitators...

You mentioned the rules allow for discussing the games you actually play. Fair enough. It’s just that the thread ends up looking like a total zoo—which doesn't feel much different from the last one, honestly. How is this version any better than what we had before?

Why is it so hard to admit that this whole concept was a bit of a flop—and that most people are only here for the chat and the gaming anyway?

Just take a look at the last page of that famous "Betting on Other Sports" thread. You'll see someone having a high-quality debate entirely with himself back in late July... only to be replaced ten days later by Nar trying to convince Nar that Kiel will have a tough time against Flensburg.

You guys have really outdone yourselves... ☕

Man, you’re just hating for no reason... if you’ve got beef with the mods, take it to their DMs. Posting here just makes you look pathetic, whining about how much detail isn't in the PDF when you could actually step up and write something useful every day to make this sub better instead.
stormyseal9 actually puts in the work. He hates the rules, sure, but he follows them and posts daily so people can grab those picks and make a quick buck since they don't follow the sport themselves. You and guys like you are just complaining. The mods aren't perfect, and the PDF sucks, but what are you doing to fix it? 👎

I'm repeating this question for everyone except George Barnes25, who already gave me an answer:

Why haven't you done this?

Look, I don't mind if you want to complain, but at the end of the day, this is just a forum. You aren't forced to participate here the way you're forced to live in this country. So, either accept things as they are or go somewhere else—it won't cost you nearly as much as moving to a new country would.

That’s all I want to know. I basically already know what kind of response I'm going to get, but I want to hear it anyway so I can finally wrap up this debate for my own sake.

I'll reply once I'm home, assuming anyone actually gives me an answer.

Look, at the end of the day, I'm just a guy on a forum, and I've taken my fair share of hits for controversial posts when they happen—but this? This has absolutely nothing to do with what we're actually discussing here.

Bottom line: props to stormyseal9, he’s always someone I can actually have a real, reasoned conversation with.
Take Greco, for instance—even though he pushed back against the rules at first, he ended up becoming the absolute top contributor for tennis betting on this forum.

Anyway, I think I'm done posting in this thread. I'll wait for one of the admins to weigh in and give us their take.

Just so we’re clear and nobody thinks I’ve got some kind of beef with the admins—especially since I actually think Eric Fox7 is a great guy who always gives me solid, logical replies—it’s just this constant push for everyone to write deep-dive analyses that really bugs me. I mean, if someone actually wants to think, they’ll just write it, right? And who knows, maybe the people obsessively following every single PDF update are the only ones who truly understand how things work around here or who they can actually "trust," if you can even call this gambling community trustworthy. I’ve never been one for ultimatums, man, it’s just not how I’m wired, end of story.🤷And regarding what Bambusov said about us not needing to post if we aren't happy—that’s total nonsense. If we followed that logic, 90% of the population would have left already because they aren't happy with how the government is running the country or whatever else. The whole point of a forum is for most people to be more or less satisfied and to ensure nobody gets special treatment, which, let’s be honest, hasn't always been the case here.🤷P.S. Regarding writing all those analyses, I honestly feel like I’m just talking to myself sometimes, because clearly nobody is reading them—at least that’s how it feels when I look at my post history and see nothing but my own stuff.🙂🤷

Ever since these analyses were introduced, I’ve been reading about 99% of them, alongside my usual NBA betting. Just because I haven't bothered to write a comment or follow up on every single thread doesn't mean I don't value what you guys are putting out there. If I missed something obvious on the daily threads, well, fair enough—but that doesn't change the fact that I appreciate the work.

If they bring back the old system, all you're going to get is a bunch of empty praise, people whining about their payouts, and mindless arguments over which multipliers failed to hit.

Look, at least you’re actually trying to make peace with the system and putting in the work to write actual analyses. I honestly can't wrap my head around the people who just sit there doing nothing but constant complaining.

To be honest, I didn't even feel like writing about them at first. I tend to go overboard because I’m such a perfectionist—I always want to make sure every single detail is covered.

Now they’re just cutting things short and calling it a day. That example you mentioned earlier—the one you say is flawed—is basically the exact system a bunch of old-school players still swear by. Honestly, I have nothing against it; I actually played that way myself for a few years. But clearly, these guys are too embarrassed to admit how they actually pick their matchups or run their strategy. I can't see any other reason why they wouldn't bother writing out even two sentences to explain themselves.🤷

If they bring back that old system, I’m out. I’ll be leaving this sub for good, though I might pop into the chat every once in a while just to say hi.

Hey everyone.

I’ve been reading through this thread and looking at the posts you flagged, and honestly, I think everyone is getting a little carried away here.

The PDF rules being discussed are pretty straightforward, so there isn't much to debate there. These accusations that a moderator snitched to get someone banned are just ridiculous. At the end of the day, you own your actions—if you get banned, that's on you, not someone else. On that specific thread, more was clear about what went wrong, pointed to the rules, and gave a one-hour window to open a ticket. Besides, even someone like me who knows nothing about betting can see that trying to claim money for a game that's already finished wouldn't fly anywhere.

Regarding the issue with quoting mods, George Barnes25, the rule is simple: don't comment on or quote moderator warnings within the thread. If you have an issue with a warning, just shoot a DM to the mod or start a ticket here. Breaking that rule can lead to sanctions, though whether someone actually gets penalized is entirely up to the moderator. That said, I do agree that more could have toned down her tone in those warnings. It also gets a bit confusing when a mod switches between acting as a community member and acting as staff. Personally, I use blue text whenever I'm writing in my capacity as an admin/mod, and everything else is just my opinion as a regular user. If everyone followed that, we wouldn't have this confusion, so I highly recommend it.

As for this whole "clan" thing, it's incredibly hard to call. I'm not a regular over at BetMGM, and to give a truly objective opinion, I'd need to spend more time there to see if there's any truth to it. That's why we always say: post the controversial links so we can actually discuss them; otherwise, it's nearly impossible to catch anything.

If you want strict adherence to the rules, they have to apply to both sides. If we go too far that way, we risk making the board feel sterile, which I don't think anyone wants. But finding that line is up to you guys, since you're the ones living it every day. My advice to the mods would be to soften their communication style a bit. As for everyone else, just read the rules and try to coordinate better with the mod team.

Got two infractions in a single day over at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas sub 🤣

1. For an image exceeding 640 pixels

I dropped this pic in a thread about soccer betting

http://gyazo.com/d594e9ffc779b08163228910ec72790e.png

The resolution is 1022x201 pixels. The vertical height is only 201 pixels—it actually takes up way less space than those screenshots people post in threads when a single parlay ruins their weekend.
I did read the rules before posting, and they state images shouldn't exceed 640 pixels. But let's be real: if every image was capped at 640 total pixels, you wouldn't be able to see anything. A 640x640 image is over 400,000 pixels, while mine was only about 205,000. The rule isn't clearly defined, so I'm pretty sure this infraction was uncalled for. This was my very first post on that board, too.

2. Also in the soccer betting thread

I scrolled through the current thread, followed the link to the original post in the soccer betting section, and finally realized where I tripped up.
I skipped the opening post because, honestly, "soccer betting" seems self-explanatory. The title didn't say "Read the first post" or "Follow these specific rules" to signal that I couldn't just list my picks and ask for opinions. Usually, I check the first post of any thread, but since the title didn't make it obvious that I needed to do that, I missed it. In any other soccer betting group, you'd just ask for feedback on a few games. They could have just deleted my reply instead of handing out an infraction for something that wasn't explicitly stated. Same goes for the image post; they could've just wiped it.

To wrap this up, I’ll just point out the irony in the rules claiming they tolerate a more relaxed atmosphere than other US boards🙄

All in all, it feels like an overreaction toward someone just trying to participate for the first time. From here on out, I'll probably just stay away from posting there altogether.

Hold on, you’ve been hanging around this forum for over two years now—you should know better than to be whining about exactly what 🤷🙄

Getting flagged for an oversized image? Look, the rules for this sub-forum (and the site as a whole, really) are pretty explicit about the 640x480 limit, so
then getting hit with a warning for breaking two different sub-forum rules at once just proves one thing:
a) you didn't bother reading the sub-forum rules
b) you completely missed the announcement regarding the changes to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas sub-forum, or
c) you saw them and just decided they didn't apply to you.

The first post is always the gold standard—it's common sense. We can't exactly put "MUST READ FIRST POST" in every single thread title, right? As a veteran user, you really should have picked that up by now.

I'm just saying my first experience with that PDF wasn't exactly great. Sure, I messed up technically, but I didn't realize those specific things were forbidden even after reading the rules—except for that first post about soccer betting. Unfortunately, my posts just got nuked. The moderation was pretty intense, but I'm just here to share how it went. It's no big deal; I'm not going to lose my shirt over two infractions.

Major props to you for the analysis you put out, but with this, you're totally ignoring the request the moderators made (and I don't see them even giving you a warning yet).
