And just to follow up on that: After a game like this—especially losing in such a gutting fashion—having to play again just 24 hours later? We wouldn't stand a chance against a team like Chile, let alone someone as tough as Canada. If the other guys have had an entire day to rest both physically and, more importantly, mentally and emotionally, we're basically cooked.

As long as Gobchev keeps rambling on about how God probably won't let them make it to the finals... and honestly, those casual fans who only tune into handball during the championship rounds once a year—people who don't really give a damn about what's happening in American handball or sports in general—well, they can just deal with it. 🙂

Just go watch your own backyard or whatever other country you care about, because it's pretty obvious you aren't even one of us.

You really get on my nerves.

And not just because of this, but just in general.

I'd hate to be in your shoes.

Look, I’m not trying to downplay his absolutely abysmal shooting tonight, but he essentially stepped up and took over the responsibilities that should have been handled by Stepancic and Sebetic.

Joseph Kim said:Man, how could John Smith be such an absolute idiot? He had a chance at a game-winning shot right there in the finals, and honestly? I’m kind of glad we lost. This guy Smith should be mortified—he needs to change his name, get a haircut, and just disappear into some hole in the middle of nowhere far away from America.

I bet everyone else was just praying they wouldn't choke. And seriously, who even is the captain here? The captain needs to step up and take some damn responsibility. 😁

Someone like Smith should be embarrassed by how much they messed up; maybe he should just change his whole identity, get a haircut, and move far away from America.

Come on, don't be like that. That's just part of the game. If there wasn't someone who could nail a shot like that right when everything is on the line, betting wouldn't even exist.

The Norwegians stepped up when it actually mattered, while our guys just folded under pressure like they always do.

My only regret is that we even had to go into overtime.
The Americans could use an extra day of rest; things are about to get ugly.

Look, folks, Duvnjak isn't exactly Superman.🙂He’s basically running at 100% intensity all game long—constant offense, constant defense—and then he shows up for the National Team and has to do it all over again. Is there anyone actually capable of stepping up and helping him out on the defensive end just a little bit?

Something smells absolutely foul around here.

Is it corpses?

Or just straight-up crap?

Honestly, it's hard to tell...

When we face Spain in the semifinals, we lose. When we don't play them, we win.
When we take on Norway in the semifinals, we lose; when we aren't playing them, we win.

It's a toss-up.

As long as gobčev keeps barking that God will ensure they never reach the finals—and considering the casual fans who only tune into handball once a year during the playoffs and couldn't care less about the state of American handball or sports in general—you all can just suffer. 🙂

And what exactly is happening in the world of handball? I wouldn't know—since I apparently don't follow more than one major tournament per year?

Maybe the Good Lord will step in eventually.

driftingfox66 said:Everyone seems to step up their game at the exact same time. Footballers, basketball players, handballers, water polo guys, tennis pros... you name it.

I’d probably be losing my mind if I wasn't already used to this nonsense.

Kudos to the Americans. They've got incredible grit.

At least the water polo team is actually making it to the finals.

Očekumo kurac, honestly. After two overtimes, they'll be totally drained and mentally shot, and then Vujović is just gonna wreck them tomorrow.

What a shame...
Highlighting those semifinal stats right before a game like this was a mistake. It just sets us up for even more heartbreak next time.

It wasn't Duvnjak who cost us the match; it was the lack of scoring from the likes of Stepančić and Šebetić. They didn't even attempt a shot, a pass, or a hard strike against the block.

The Americans are gonna need more than a day off to recover from this mess.

Less rest, extra minutes played, and a massive mental slump after a loss like that.

Not trying to be a buzzkill here, but we might as well start polishing the wooden medal now.

The thing that actually sent my blood pressure through the roof was that last attack in the first overtime. We’re holding possession with 30 seconds left on the clock, and not a single person is smart enough to glance at the scoreboard. Instead, they realize there are only 3 seconds left right before the ref blows the whistle.

We aren't going anywhere as a national team until our left and right wingers actually have the talent to get the ball out to the sidelines. That one flaw is dragging the whole squad down.

That’s my boy.
Duvnjak is absolutely bullying them out there, 3 to 13.
I mean, Stepančić barely even got off the ground once the whole game; maybe three jumps total?
And then you’ve got Tip, who somehow pulls this miracle save on a breakaway in the final second to keep the finals dream alive.
Then Tip goes ahead and shuts down a penalty right after the buzzer sounds, too.

Yeah, I guess they just had more luck last time.
And yeah, the refs totally screwed us over.

Good grief, watching Duvnjak play is just something else! He’ll take eight max-effort shots in a single game, swinging his arms wildly through thin air because he lacks even a shred of backbone from any teammate on the field to actually support him! 🙏
