The folks over at Best Buy were telling me the Dell is the way to go, though they did mention it doesn't handle black levels quite as well. There's a pretty significant price gap here—the Dell is definitely more expensive—but if it’s actually going to give me a better experience, I don't mind dropping the extra cash. But honestly, if there isn't a huge difference, why would I waste the money, right?

I'll just hang tight for maybe two or three days to see what you guys think before I make my final call on which one to grab. Thanks a ton in advance for the help!

I’d personally lean toward the Dell too—mostly because it features an IPS panel. Now, what does that actually mean for you? It basically means you get much better viewing angles, so the colors and image stay consistent no matter how you're sitting in front of it. How much are you looking to spend, though? If I knew your budget, I might be able to suggest something else entirely... Dell tends to be on the pricier side in general.

How much are you looking to drop on this? If you tell me your budget, I might even be able to point you toward something completely different... let's face it, Dell usually commands a bit of a premium.

The Dell is sitting at about $200, while the ASUS monitor is closer to $165.

I honestly don't know the exact conversion if you're over in the States, since I can never seem to keep track of current exchange rates—it's a total embarrassment, I know, but that's just how my brain works! haha. 😁

Seriously though, any advice is welcome here, but if we're talking a budget of up to $200 or maybe $220 max, I feel like the best way to find a winner is to dive deep into the specs, scour the web for honest user reviews from people who actually own them, and maybe even pick the brains of the folks working behind the counter at places like Best Buy.

Well, why don't you just name a local shop in your area so we can actually talk about what's worth buying? I mean, looking at the prices—a Dell monitor is sitting at 160 USD while the ASUS monitor is only 133 USD...

Win-Win and Best Buy.

Those two are pretty much the biggest players in my area with the most massive selection, though I guess Best Buy is an option too, even if their stock seems a bit more limited compared to them.

Look, I didn't want to go out of my way and make anyone do extra work by hunting down deals for me, so I just did a quick search myself 😁 ...and ended up picking out two options that seem like the best bang for my buck, so why don't you take a look and let me know which one you think is the winner?
And obviously, I'm not looking at anything smaller than 23 inches, though honestly, I'd much rather grab a 24 or maybe one of those 23.8/23.6 inch ones like the Dell monitor and the ASUS monitor.

So, I picked up the ASUS 27... it’s got an AMVA panel ($500)—can't quite remember the exact price in dollars off the top of my head—but honestly, I've got nothing but good things to say about it.
It comes with two HDMI ports, which is a huge plus for me if I ever feel like hooking up something else, maybe an Android TV or whatever...
Plus, it actually has built-in speakers that pull audio straight through the HDMI cable. I used to think built-in monitor speakers were a total gimmick, but after using these, I'm actually impressed. At least I don't have a mess of extra wires cluttering up my desk 🙂
