Hey there...
I'm looking to pick up a new PC for gaming and some graphic design work (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), so I've been scanning the market to see what's out there.
I considered building one myself, but honestly, looking at what's available within my budget—roughly a few thousand dollars—this particular setup caught my eye.$2500

• Processor: Intel Core i5 4460 3.20GHz (6MB cache) Haswell
• Motherboard: Asrock H81M-DG4
• RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz (expandable to 16GB)
• Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX960 SSC 2GB GDDR5
• Storage: 120GB SSD + 1TB SATA
• Optical Drive: DVDRW DL
• Network Card: Yes (Gb LAN)
• Ports: D-Sub, DVI-D, 4x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0
• Case: Tower
• Power Supply: 550W 80+
• Operating System: FreeDOS
• Dimensions: 493 x 215 x 426mm
• Warranty: 24/60 months

To be perfectly honest, I'm a bit out of my depth here. Does this look alright to you guys? Is this actually a decent machine, or should I be swapping out certain parts? Or is the whole thing just a bad idea? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

That's not quite right, $500 it feels overpriced 😛

ASRock B150M Pro4V motherboard, LGA 1151
Intel Core i7-6700 processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.00 GHz), LGA 1151
LG GH24NS DVD burner, DVD±RW, 24x DVD±R, 8x DL, 40x CD-R, SATA bulk, black
FORTRON 550W Raider power supply, RA550, 12cm fan, Active PFC, 88% efficiency
Zalman Z1 mid tower case. 199(W)x432(H)x457(D)mm
256GB SanDisk X400 SSD, SATA3, SD8SB8U-256G-1122
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD, 3.5", 7200RPM, 64MB Cache, SATA3
2x 8GB DDR4 PC3-17000 2133MHz CL15 Crucial sticks (1x8GB)

Total: $1.75 Micro Center (includes free shipping and assembly)

I guess you could go this route and just stick with the integrated graphics for a few weeks; it should be enough for some older, lighter games. I think it might even run GTA V on Normal settings. New GPUs are supposed to hit the market soon and shake things up, so it might be better to just wait a bit.

Everything in this build is an upgrade over the one in the link, except maybe the case, which is roughly in the same tier.

P.S. Mods, please move this to Desktop. 🙂

The GTX 750 Ti 2GB gets GTA V running at 720p on medium settings, averaging about 30 fps. I tested it out on my NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti, and my buddy tried it on his NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti too.
