Hey, I'm looking to pick up a new Macbook Pro MD101ll/a
HTML Code:

Prices in the US are maybe $667 cheaper than they are here, but the issue is they don't ship to America... I checked prices across Europe too, which are way lower than our local rates (Amazon.com, Amazon.com), but from what I can see, they won't ship to the US either :S
Anyway, my question is: What’s the best way to order a new MacBook from another country? Like, which online shops should I use to keep costs down?

P.S. I looked through some threads about buying stuff online, but I couldn't find a straight answer...

It’s hardly cutting-edge. If you check MD101, you’ll see this is just a Mid 2012 MBP 2nd gen unibody—basically a four-year-old relic.

On the bright side, there's still one of these units (MD101D/A) available on Amazon.com that ships to the States. It’s sitting at $1,049, or about $1,101.89 if you factor in shipping.

Even better? You can actually upgrade it to OS X El Capitan 10.11. My old iMac from 2007 handled it just fine, so an MBP shouldn't have any trouble. 🙂

The whole reason I'm eyeing this specific MBP 2012 - 2013 is because you can basically turn it into a beast for next to nothing by swapping in an SSD and 16GB of RAM. I guess if you look it up on Google, it actually holds its own against those fancy new retina models, even if it lacks the retina display—not that I really care about that, so... 👍

So, I was wondering, if I order this MbP for $1,200, what am I actually going to get hit with for customs and Sales Tax here in the States? Since I assume the Sales Tax is around 25%, which seems high, the total price is probably going to jump quite a bit...

There's no customs fee since the item is shipping from within the US.

Regarding taxes, as far as I can tell, that price on Amazon.com already includes their local Sales Tax, which is about 19% over there. So, you'd likely just end up covering the 6% difference.

Amazon just handles the sales tax based on where it's being shipped, so there aren't any extra headaches involved.
