Something’s fishy here... it’s all way too polite and everyone’s acting way too agreeable on this topic..

..I can smell a rat... feels like that eerie calm right before a massive storm hits. 😬

Reading this just gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. 😍

Perhaps my tea was a bit too hot... 😁

I’m out here sowing seeds of love and kindness... (what can I say, it's just who I am)
So it’s no wonder you all have gone soft on me!

Honestly, I don't see any damn reason to mess with the points system we've been running since the second race, because it’s worked perfectly fine up until now ☕

Just when I thought there was nothing left to tweak, I managed to automate my spreadsheets just a tiny bit more 😬

🙏 🙏

@TBF1D - honestly, I should probably just email you my Excel file so you can admire this little masterpiece 😬

It might involve a hair more work than whatever you're doing with those hot dogs, but hey, at least it’s way cleaner and easier to read 😉

Go ahead and set up the automation for this new proposal of mine now, so we can hit the ground running next year without any unnecessary headaches. 🙏
It’s clear the referendum passed by a landslide, so there is really no point in keeping this debate wide open.
I actually doubt even darkmarlin16 agrees with it; it just seems like, being the staunch conservative he is, he feels a bit sentimental about seeing the previous, flawed system finally go into the history books.

Glad you're as hyped about this as I am

🙂

..but let's be real, there's zero chance that Bjesomar's criteria will work without some massive software overhaul

I say we try something else... something wild! 👋

I’m on board—unofficially, for now—with this proposal for a new points system. It feels sleek, maybe even a bit extravagant. image

As the top driver from the Formula 1 2012 season, I don't see any issue adapting to new rules and keeping my winning streak alive. Darwin would call it "Survival of the fittest," others might say "adapt or die," but my take? This messy swamp we call the Formula 1 championship desperately needs a shake-up. After all, we see constant changes in Formula 1 season after season.

Who knows, maybe it'll help me manage my fantasy league, or I'll stumble onto some genius idea. 😁

Look, instead of everyone giving their blessing, I'd rather see all three methods actually put to the test.😁

Let's try this for VN Barcelona:
WayOut - uses the current system. (basically the official results)
Dorian - uses his new method
Bjesomar - uses his own criteria

Everyone just post your results in this thread.
Then we'll see who's actually the fastest (and therefore the simplest) and how it works in the real world.👍
That's probably the best way to figure out which system we should stick with for next season.🙂

If it helps, I can compile everyone's predictions into one single post before the race starts so you guys don't have to deal with the hassle.🙂

As long as I don't have to lift a finger because everyone else handles the automated spreadsheets... 😍 🤣

I actually went through the trouble of coding a program based on Matthew Young35's specific criteria... but apparently, nobody cares.

I’m certainly not against giving it a shot, though I haven't spent much time crunching the numbers for a full championship standings—at least not in the way you'd calculate a tournament bracket—so my timing might not be perfectly calibrated. That said, looking back at how long it took me to map out those tournament predictions, the timeframe seems about the same. Besides, ruggedfox28 and WayOut both mentioned they’re on board, so I don't see why we need to make a fuss over the math. To me, the more pressing issue is that we all seem to agree this new system is fairer and well worth a try. 👍

Agreed.🙂
It’s not just about raw speed,😉 and that’s not the deciding factor here. It’s totally expected that those of you doing this for the first time will need more time to figure it out.
But if it turns out you need the same amount of time—or even less—than someone like WayOut who's already got the routine down, then it proves the system isn't actually any more complicated.
And if you end up being faster? Well, then it's obvious. Not only is the system "fairer," it's also significantly quicker, which makes it simpler. If that happens, there’s zero question about switching to it next season.😉

Plus, that would let us see exactly how much the results differ between methods.😉
Look, do the math or don't, it's up to you. But personally, I'd love to see all three versions side-by-side. I want to see which one looks best, which is fastest, which is easiest, and which is actually the most fair.👍

🤷

What if they weren't?🤷

Can I just run the existing forecasts through that program myself, or do they need to be sent over in some specific format?🤷

So, here’s how the process works:

image

1. Enter the actual standings into the left-hand table.
2. Drag the drivers from that left table over to the right one to reflect the player rankings.
3. Hit "CALCULATE." The results will pop up in a text editor and automatically copy themselves to your clipboard.
4. Paste that clipboard content directly onto the forum.
5. Click the "CLEAR" button to wipe the right table clean (the left table with the official standings stays put, so there's no need to re-enter everything).
6. Repeat step two until you've reached the last player.

Once the official standings are entered (about a minute),
it takes roughly one minute per player to process.
