A friend of mine is looking for a laptop with a budget of $1833 max. He’s primarily focused on music production and recording, so he needs something capable of handling those workloads. Of course, it’ll also be his daily driver for web browsing and Microsoft Office, and he wants to play some games on the side—mostly stuff like NBA 2016, FIFA, and other sports titles. He prefers a 17-inch screen, but honestly, raw performance is more important to him; he'd rather have a faster machine even if it means a smaller display. He also mentioned he definitely needs at least 8 GB of RAM to manage his production software.
He’s been eyeing these three options:
Are any of these actually worth buying, and will they run the games he mentioned? I told him straight up to stay away from the one with the AMD chip; I've always had a personal preference for Intel IX processors. My parents use similar CPUs at home, and they seem perfectly fine for general use. Is there anything better out there for this kind of money?
