Basically, my main constraints are staying within budget and making sure everything can be picked up at Best Buy.

Here’s what I consider non-negotiable for this build:
An LGA 1151 motherboard paired with an Intel Core i5-6600. (I’d honestly prefer the 6600K, but apparently Best Buy doesn't stock it right now, so I guess I'll settle).
As far as the GPU goes, I was torn between an NVIDIA GTX 970 or an AMD Radeon R9 390, but beyond that, I'm pretty flexible.
For the case, I just need something with front-facing USB 3.0 ports and enough internal clearance to make sure everything actually fits without a struggle.
If I go with a decent power supply, one HDD, one SSD, and 16GB of RAM, do you think that'll hold up well over the next few years?

So, that's the roadmap—feel free to dive in with your thoughts. I'm counting on you guys; you've never let me down when it comes to hardware advice in this sub. :klap:

I was wondering if there’s anything in particular at ADM that isn't actually cheaper when you're trying to put a build together

Does it really have to be from Best Buy? Their selection is pretty desperate right now... and I think prices have jumped a bit lately.

Here’s my "must-have" list:
LGA 1151 motherboard for an Intel Core i5-6600. (I’d prefer the 6600K, but whatever, Best Buy doesn't carry it).
For the GPU, I was torn between an NVIDIA GTX 970 or an AMD Radeon R9 390. Everything else is just preference.
With the case, I just need front-panel USB 3.0 and decent space for all the parts.
Should a solid PSU, one HDD, one SSD, and 16GB of RAM hold up for the next few years?

That's the gist. Let me know what you think. I'm counting on you guys—you've always come through with the hardware advice on this board. 👏

If you're paying cash, there are way better shops than Best Buy. But if you're doing credit or installments... then stick with Best Buy.

Go ahead, tell me I can snag some massive discount at Best Buy. That’s the only reason I’m sticking with them exclusively. Look, I’m fully aware there are better deals and more enticing offers floating around elsewhere, but honestly, let's just call it what it is.

It’s an Intel Core i5-6500 box, right? It’s got that 3.2GHz speed, a 6MB cache, integrated graphics, and it's a quad core. I guess it gets the job done.
PCI-E MSI AMD Radeon R9 390 gaming, 8GB DDR5, featuring DVI, HDMI, and DP ports.
It's a 1TB Seagate hard drive—SATA3, 64MB cache, spinning at 7200 RPM, standard 3.5" size.
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, SATA III, 2.5" (540/520 MB/s)
ANTEC GX505 MIDI case, black, window edition—just the chassis, no PSU included.
It’s a 550W unit from Antec—the EDG550 EC. It’s an ATX v2.4 model with a 135mm fan, fully modular, featuring PFC, and it's rated 80+ Gold. I guess it should be decent.
It looks like we're looking at some Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM—8GB of it, clocked at 2666MHz. I guess that should be fine for most basic setups.
The MSI B150M Bazooka is an mATX board using the Intel B150 chipset and an LGA 1151 socket. It supports DDR4 and comes equipped with things like USB 3.1, HDMI, DVI, SATA, and Gigabit LAN. It handles audio just fine, too. I guess it’s a pretty standard setup.
The LC POWER LC-CC-95 cooler works with sockets like 775, 1155, 1156, 1150, AM2, and AM3.

Total: $2936 gaming PC under $1500 Newegg
