Paul T. Anderson possesses an encyclopedic command of filmmaking technique; I’d place him among the all-time greats. His work isn't exactly for the masses—certainly not everyone's cup of tea—but they're my favorites.

I caught it a few days ago, so the dust has finally settled, yet something still feels fuzzy about the plot. Can someone who's seen it clarify if Claudine's boyfriend actually opened fire on Jim (the cop) after losing his gun?

Hands down, my favorite movie.

I don't think so, honestly. That guy wasn't actually her boyfriend—it was just a one-night stand. And as for that shooting, I'm pretty sure the movie doesn't even address it.

Right, I realize he isn't a guy—I just wasn't quite sure how to phrase that more politely without sounding awkward. 😁

A total disaster of a movie. It's honestly baffling that there hasn't been any discussion about this yet.

I’m such a huge fan of Anderson's work. And honestly, this is where Tom Cruise really started leveling up his acting game. He just radiates this pure malice and irony... he totally proved he could nail the role of 😉

The rest of the movie is just a massive web of symbolism. You've got those underlying relationships, how the stories tie together, Bill Macey's potential sexuality, even that whole frog rain thing 😁 it's all connected and totally up for interpretation 🙂

Great movie. Personally, I’d rank it as the third best from PTA. By the way, does anyone know if he's working on a new project yet?

I finally finished watching that documentary. It had its premiere in New York just the other day.

Really great film. I’ve always been a huge fan of Anderson's work—he just has a way about him. What strikes me is how the mosaic-like structure actually feels purposeful here; you don't see that kind of functional complexity very often, especially compared to other directors who try that style without pulling it off. If I recall correctly, this was also the final performance from the legendary Jason Robards. It might be a bit overlooked by most, but honestly, it has all the hallmarks of a future classic.
