How do I stop ads from popping up?

I got a notification yesterday saying my Google Chrome was running slow. I clicked a few things, and then Google ended up reinstalling itself. Everything seems fine now, except for one thing: I'm getting bombarded with annoying ads on every single page. Does anyone have any advice on how I can stop this?

Man, what did you click on? Honestly sounds like you accidentally installed a Trojan. To block all those ads, just grab Adblock Plus from the add-ons section in Chrome—it kills all that junk, works great for me. If that doesn't cut it, you might need to completely uninstall Chrome (just make sure you wipe your entire history first) and then grab the latest version.

She’s probably going to run into issues again because she picked up some adware.

Just download this little utility CLICK HERE—once you've got it running, close out all your open programs and hit scan. After the scan wraps up, just click clean. Your laptop should automatically restart once that's done. When it boots back up, head over to Google Chrome and find the option to reset everything to factory settings. Once you've done that, just install AdBlock Plus and you should be good to go.

Google Chrome is acting up on me again. Ever since I decided to Reset Chrome, everything seems fine except for the fact that I can't access certain sites like Gmail or Facebook. For instance, whenever I try to log into my Gmail, I get hit with this message:
"This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Chrome to connect securely to mail.google.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What should I do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Chrome only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate."

Based on everything I've read here—from the very first post onwards—I might just be being paranoid, but honestly? I’d kill that computer and rebuild it from the ashes. Meaning: wipe the drive and do a clean OS reinstall.

What am I supposed to do here?

Might be a stupid question, but check if your computer's date and time are set correctly. If they aren't, fix them.
