I don't know, but this seems pretty mediocre compared to the last one. I can't help but wonder where all those millions actually go when the VFX look like they were rendered on average workstations! Maybe they're just overspending on caviar for lunch? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the franchise just keeps traveling the globe, simply swapping out the city in the title—we might end up seeing something like Washington Has Fallen next..

Caught this yesterday and honestly, walking out of the theater, I felt just as stoked as I did after seeing the first one. It’s straightforward, zero pretension, just pure adrenaline-fueled action that delivers exactly what it promises. If you dug the original, you’re gonna love this sequel. Butler is basically a one-man wrecking crew, taking down entire squads of terrorists with his bare hands, feet, knives, or just spraying tons of lead. Cars flipping, bikes smashing, helicopters going down—half of New York City gets leveled. It’s nothing we haven't seen before, but man, it's still a blast.

The CGI is definitely noticeable, especially during the massive explosions, but it holds up well enough. If you’re looking for some mind-blowing, visual masterpiece experience like you get in Avatar, then look elsewhere. You might as well just sit around waiting for the next Avatar, and let's face it, we've got four more of those to wait through.

And if you're expecting some "brave cinematic achievement" that pushes the artistic boundaries of the genre? Honestly, you'd be better off holding out for the next Prometheus.

This isn't even a movie for feminists, because let's be real: it's straight-up macho mayhem where big guys save the world. Sure, there are female characters holding high-ranking political offices, so there's a tiny bit of "girl power" flavor there, but don't get your hopes up. I won't spoil what happens to them once the guys start trading bullets in the streets of New York City, but anyone who remembers how they handled women in the first movie won't be shocked. Okay, fine, there’s an English secret agent lady who helps Butler's war against terror, but she's mostly doing paperwork. Nothing gritty in the field where the actual blood is being spilled by the men. For the feminists out there, maybe just wait for the next Star Wars flick if that's your vibe.

The takeaway here? America can be wounded, but she keeps fighting and comes out on top. Western democracies might be hypocritical, corrupt, and a bit self-destructive, but they're still a hell of a lot better than hated Putin's Russia.

According to Wikipedia, the budget was around $60 million and it's already pulled in $182.4 million. So yeah, it matched the success of its predecessor—actually beat it slightly—so a third movie isn't out of the question. The only thing missing was some promo at my local AMC featuring a Butler action figure decked out in full tactical gear.

So, I finally sat down to watch this one, and just as I mentioned in my previous post, it’s a pretty solid action flick. Anyone who grew up fueled by the high-octane energy of 80s and 90s classics like Commando, Die Hard, or Lying Truthfully is bound to get a kick out of this. Personally, I certainly did. Now, some viewers might find themselves rolling their eyes at the scenes that fly in the face of basic physics, or perhaps they'll be put off by the heavy-handed political undertones and that overly sentimental, flag-waving brand of US patriotism—but honestly, none of that bothered me. In fact, the absolute highlight of the entire experience was Gerard Butler. He plays this gritty, unapologetic badass who just commands the screen🙂. If you paired him with someone like Ethan Hunt played by Tom Cruise or Damon in Borne, he’d probably sweep that excessive melodrama right off the set. If they ever decide to greenlight Expendables 4, there is simply no question about it: Butler has to be the lead!

Yeah, Butler is out there showing everyone exactly how it's done—pure, old-school villain smashing at its absolute finest.

Just watched it. It’s an alright action flick, nothing more. The CGI was pretty rough. The whole sense of American sentimentality felt a bit much, but I guess when you drop $60 million on a movie, you get what you get.
