silvergull10 said:If that silly little 107 percent rule were actually being enforced, McLaren might as well just pack their bags right now and head straight to Sepang.

I find myself disagreeing with that assessment; if a 1:34.690 had actually hit that 107 percent threshold, wouldn't we have seen it?

Thank God the gap between first and third isn't more than 107%.

Man, this could actually be a legendary season.

But then again—what if Mercedes just isn't even in the picture? 🕺

Pros: Lotus is back in the mix, huge props to Philip, and man, Ferrari is looking surprisingly solid after last year. Sainz!
Cons: Honda, Mercedes, Force India

But what happens if Mercedes isn't even in the conversation? 🕺

From where I'm sitting, it looks like Rosberg is just completely crumbling under the pressure now; at least before this, he was putting up a decent fight during qualifying.

With the Rus drivers ahead of both STR cars, it's clear Lotus is the best of the rest, while William and Ferrari are neck and neck.

It looks like the showdown between Ferrari and Williams is going to be the only thing worth watching.
Massa let me down; he should've been fighting for 5th instead of settling for 3rd.

It doesn't really matter. What's the difference, other than Caterham making a fool of themselves?🤦

That was a pretty solid slap in the face to the title contenders at the start of this championship defense. Though, let's be honest, qualifying doesn't mean much of anything right now...😉

Lujo really gave them a lesson they won't soon forget.
With Ferrari hovering somewhere in the pack, trailing by a full 1.5 seconds...
It is merely a repetition of last year's script. The Mercedes duo remains locked in their championship fight, though Lujo arguably holds the upper hand this time around. Meanwhile, Williams and Ferrari are essentially fighting over the same scraps of podium finishes, having done little more than swap places. While the season may lack any groundbreaking shifts in the standings, one wonders if we might at least witness some decent wheel-to-wheel combat on the track.
The curtain has risen, and now we simply wait to see where this path leads us.

Did Vettel even bother putting in a second lap, or did he just throw in the towel before he even started? Williams really should have been sitting in the 3-4 range here.

Despite all the hype surrounding a potential Ferrari comeback, the Italian team were 1.43 secs slower Than Hamilton—barely shaving off 0.2 seconds from where they stood last year when their former driver Fernando Alonso managed to qualify fifth.

What a complete joke Mercedes is compared to the rest of the field... 1.4 seconds? I honestly didn't expect them to be this much of a disaster. 😁
I reckon everyone else is sitting on maybe 30 tokens left for their engines, but with Mercedes 0 running like that, they wouldn't catch them if they tried.
I honestly think Mercedes just nailed the fundamental engine design from the jump. Once you’ve hit that sweet spot with the core architecture, there isn't much anyone can do about it—not with the way the token limits work. It's basically locked in.
silvergull10 said:Did Vettel even bother driving a second lap, or did he just completely blow it? Or maybe he didn't even try. Williams should have been sitting comfortably in the top three or four here.

There was only one set of fresh softs available in Q3, and they burned them right at the start. Trying to squeeze any kind of pace out of used softs at the end of the session? Total nonsense. It just didn't make sense.

I guess I don't really get why Seb bothered with another set in Q2, since he had Q3 pretty much in the bag anyway. 😵

Edward Howard2 said:Where on earth did you get the idea that one doesn't include the other? It literally says the app will be part of Formula 1 Access soon.
Honestly, if they don't include it, it’s not worth the money. I highly doubt anyone's actually going to shell out 27 bucks for such a pathetic offer.
At least the app actually does something now, though it’s a joke that they're charging $25 when it was literally half that price last year. 🤣

I grabbed a Formula 1 Access subscription, but there’s zero mention of an app or how to install one on the site. To make matters worse, the app itself doesn't even give you a way to log in using your Formula 1 Access credentials. Great. 😉

So, forget about it. Maybe they'll actually pull it together eventually, but there's zero chance it happens before we're halfway through those four months until the Formula 1 Access billing kicks in.
And then it's just more of the same nonsense—either you're getting ripped off now, or you're dropping 27 bucks on an app that's basically useless. Maybe. I think I picked that up somewhere around Bahrain or Barcelona...
And here’s the real question: are we actually getting the full version, or some watered-down, crippled imitation? Honestly, my gut tells me it's the latter... because if they actually intended to give us the complete package, they probably wouldn't be dragging their feet like this. 😉

Basically, stupidity squared.
Honestly, if you're dropping $27 on Formula 1 Access, you’re better off just getting a subscription to Autosport or Fox Sports. At least they actually provide content. On the official F1 platform, they don't even bother posting last year's lap times from Free Practice or qualifying anymore, let alone anything else useful. Just a total waste of money.
With Formula 1 Access, all you really get is live timing—and even that’s stripped down since there's no tire data, speed info, or current lap details. You get a few Sky Sports clips thrown in, too. Honestly, it doesn't even include past results. For that price, it's pretty much useless unless you're only watching the actual races.
No old qualifying results, no Free Practice times, no fastest lap charts, and zero speed traps. Nothing. 🤦

crimsonstag84 said:Why did Sebastian Vettel even bother going out for another set in Qualifying 2? He had a comfortable spot in Qualifying 3 😵

He went back out in Qualifying 2, but they pulled him into the pits before he even finished a fast lap. They realized nobody could touch them, so they just gave up and headed straight to the garage 😉

Therefore, he didn't waste tires in Qualifying 2; instead, Ferrari played it way too safe by burning through the softs right in Qualifying 1 🤦
God, what idiots. Remember when things were actually chaotic with McLaren and the Sauber team 😵
Seriously, it would've been hard for them to even miss Qualifying 1, even if they'd run on intermediates 🙄

Basically, they blew the soft tire sets for Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel in Qualifying 1, and in doing so, they completely screwed themselves for Qualifying 3 🤦

Sure, they've improved since last year...
But honestly, it feels like the only real difference is that Red Bull Racing is struggling compared to last year, and McLaren is in even worse shape...
So now, instead of having four or five competitive teams, we're down to two or three...
Though Williams looks faster, considering Felipe Massa—who is noticeably worse than Valtteri Bottas—managed to grab both Ferrari seats...

P.S. I wouldn't even be surprised if Fernando Alonso ends up being nothing special at the end of the day, just because he doesn't want to embarrass himself in this absolute mess of a McLaren-Honda 🤦

the German 🙏

No matter how much their current approach gets under our skin—and believe me, it really does—we have to admit we're watching history being made right before our eyes.

Anyway, let's just cross our fingers and hope they at least manage to eat through their tires 🤣
