So, just like the title says—I ran into a major headache with my laptop screen last night. Everything suddenly turned green and there's this constant flickering going on. I can't seem to fix it because in the display settings, "display device on VGA" isn't even an option—it just shows "mobile PC display." I've already tried installing all the latest drivers for the graphics card, but it's like the system doesn't even see it? My GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 4200, and I'm running Windows 8.1 32-bit. Does anyone know if I should try a clean reinstall of Windows? Honestly, I'm out of ideas at this point.😕

It doesn't necessarily have to be an issue with the graphics card either, honestly... it could just be a faulty ribbon cable connecting the laptop to the display

I think that's exactly what's happening, since the picture looks totally fine whenever I plug it into an external monitor. Is there any way to fix this without having to lug it all the way to a repair shop?

Sure. Just buy a new ribbon cable and swap it out yourself.
