Every time I try to clear my browsing history, stuff still sticks around, and honestly, I want everything gone—completely wiped.

On the Google homepage, those old search terms just hang out there. Like, if I type the letter "f," it suggests things like "Facebook," "flat screen TVs," or even names of people I searched for ages ago. It’s basically a list of every single thing starting with "f" that I've ever looked up.

The other thing is that whenever I go to a site where I need to log in, it keeps suggesting all my old usernames from previous accounts. It's like it remembers every single login I've ever used.

I swear, I remember back in the day, clearing the history actually worked and wiped everything clean. Why won't it do that anymore?

Just to be clear: when I go to delete everything, I make sure every single box is checked and I set the time range to "all time."

EDIT: Now I'm seeing that the address bar is still suggesting sites from just five days ago, even though I literally just nuked the entire history.😠

You might want to try running CCleaner to wipe everything out. Personally, whenever I use it, it clears out those specific entries you mentioned, along with my entire browsing history. However, that other issue you brought up regarding user profiles—that seems to stick around even after a deep clean. At that point, you might really need to go as far as fully uninstalling the browser, scrubbing every last trace of it from the system, and then performing a fresh install. I can't say for certain if that’ll do the trick, but it’s definitely worth having on your list of possibilities.

Just grab CCleaner and make sure you check every single box if you really want to wipe your history clean and nuked everything from orbit

Man, this CCleaner is absolutely wild. Thank god I didn't just hit go before checking the "applications" tab—it had Google Earth, Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and Microsoft Office 2010 checked by default! 😲

Seriously though, would it have actually wiped all that out if I'd just clicked Run? 😲

Look, that’s really just your search history—it isn't going to wipe out the actual program, just the stuff you typed into the search bar...

Look, if you want my advice, just use an incognito window when you're watching that kind of stuff so you don't end up dealing with all those annoying issues. 😉
