So, I am completely lost here. πŸ”

Question: I have a desktop setup at home that's connected directly via a hardline from my cable provider. Is there any wayβ€”and if so, howβ€”that I can use that PC to broadcast a Wi-Fi signal to share the connection with other devices in my apartment?
Basically... what kind of gear would I need, and is this even doable? I don't have a router sitting there; it's just a single Ethernet cable plugged straight into my network card.

Thanks in advance

If you happen to have a PCI wireless card or even just a standard USB dongle, it’s definitely doable. That said, it really comes down to the specifics of what you're working with, because some hardware is built to handle this while other pieces just won't cooperate.

Look, I don't mind picking up whatever gear is necessary, I just need something specific to work with. Give me a concrete recommendation or a particular setup to look into, and then I'll start doing my own research. 😁

Alternatively, one could simply purchase a standard plug-and-play router, connect everything to it, and call it a day with the Wi-Fi...
I was assembling something quite similar just last night. The router was... TP-Link... an interesting choice for networking equipment... od $40I am not entirely certain which specific model you are using. You simply plug the Ethernet cable into it, and then connect it to your PC or whatever else... On this particular version, Wi-Fi is enabled by default, and the password is printed right on the bottomβ€”so it doesn't get much simpler than that...
