Installing Windows 7 on a new PC

Hello, I’m looking for some guidance here. My current laptop is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on an OEM license, but since the machine is currently broken, I’ve gone ahead and picked up a new one. Is there any way I can actually install Windows on this new device using that same old product key? Thanks.

Technically, you can do it, but it isn't strictly legal. If this is just for your own personal use at home, then go ahead and reuse the license. However, if you are using that laptop for a business or a startup where an IRS audit could actually happen, just buy the retail version and be done with it.
