The Mexicans are absolutely tearing through the Poles right now, and honestly, they look pretty dominant on the court. If things keep going this way, they’re definitely our biggest threat if we run into them in the semifinals.
As for the Czechs, I figured they'd take down the Germans. I didn't catch the game live, but it sounds like it was a hell of a match... should be a great matchup later on.

I haven't seen a game this intense between a Mexican and a Pole in years. Honestly, both sides were playing with such pure, unadulterated ferocity, it was absolutely wild to watch.

If the host actually claims the Danes bought packages for every single game...
it just goes to show that the organizers were probably just desperate to flood the city with tourists, so they handed out tickets left and right without any actual limits. 🤷

It’s honestly pretty pointless, though I guess there are some Slovaks and Danes in the mix—this guy claims there are about 600 Slovaks and a few more Danes... which basically implies they actually managed to snag tickets for the first game since they were being sold on the day, if I'm following his logic correctly.

It’s not some massive oversight by the organizers or anything... it’s just different. People in the city simply aren't interested in national team games—not football, and definitely not basketball, volleyball, or handball. It is what it is.
The other thing is that most of the crowd consists of political sycophants and those "Confluence & Delta City lifestyle" types. Aside from maybe 200 or 300 hardcore fans showing up, you shouldn't be surprised by a half-empty arena that feels more like a theater. This isn't a Partizan game in the EuroLeague.
Maybe we'll see a bit more energy in the later stages if the US actually pulls off a big win.
It would probably be even worse in Vrsac, and even in places like St. Louis where they've hosted U21 soccer for years, the turnout hasn't been much better... so it would be the same story there.
Given that handball isn't exactly a mainstream sport in America, this shouldn't come as a shock.

Honestly, massive props to the Mexicans. They’re holding their own out there—if they play this smart, they might actually snatch a point from a powerhouse like Sweden.

I’m mostly on board with what’s been said, but I wouldn't say folks in NYC aren't interested; they’re just burnt out. All these national teams have been playing in the city for years on end. I remember back in the day, even the volleyball teams would pack out local arenas, and they always had solid results... as for soccer, that’s a whole different saga; they barely deserve any support anyway.😁

edit: that whole thing about the fancy, superficial crowd was pretty obvious during the Davis Cup too.☕
