Mexico City setlist:

The Queen Is Dead
(The Smiths song)
Suedehead
Speedway
Staircase at the University World Peace is None of Your Business Neal Cassady Drops

Dead The Bullfighter Dies Kiss Me

Lot Trouble Loves Me Yes

I Am Blind I'm

Throwing My Arms Around Paris Smiler with Knife Kick the Bride down the Aisle I'm Not

Man Scandinavia

How Soon Is Now? (The Smiths song) Istanbul Meat Is Murder

(The Smiths song)

Encore:
Asleep
(The Smiths song)
Everyday Is Like Sunday

He could afford to be a little more flexible with the setlist, especially when playing in territories he doesn't visit all the time—something most other performers actually bother to do. But hey, this is Morrissey... as long as he’s happy, right? 👎

Looking at this whole lineup, I have no clue why "Throwing My Arms Around Paris" even made the cut... plus, those two are just so-so for me (Smiler with Knife and Kick the Bride down the Aisle).

Also, hmmm, feels like he’s prepared an educational lecture for us on all the heavy existential questions facing modern man... personally, I’d rather dance to some old-school Morrissey. Doesn't even have to be The Smiths—he’s got so many great upbeat tracks... Billy Bud, Sister I'm a Poet, November Spawned, Sing Your Life, etc., etc.

It works for me. Honestly, I’d love to go dance, but—well—Morrissey just isn't The Smiths anymore. We all know he can be arrogant and stubborn, always doing things his own way (which, if I'm being honest, is probably why we love him), but we also know what he stands for. If his new album hadn't actually grown on me, I wouldn't even bother going to the show, despite how much I adore the old stuff. I don't mind a bit of subtle activism or politics, but we'll just have to wait and see how he weaves it into the music—hopefully it doesn't end up feeling cheap.

Missing this concert was never even an option for me. He’s been my absolute favorite singer for ten years straight... there were even long stretches where he was pretty much the only thing on my playlist, along with The Smiths. I actually almost flew out to Berlin for a show once too, but work stuff just got in the way. It's a bummer thinking there might be certain songs I'll never get to hear live... just a thought. Skipping the show wasn't an option; the second the announcement hit the news sites, I grabbed my tickets. I might have even been one of the first ones to do it.🤦

Everyone else, have a blast at the show and enjoy yourselves. 😁 Let me know how it goes.😁

Henry Rollins talking about Morrissey, haha. 😁

Morrissey said "If I Die, Then I Die."

So, whatever happens, happens... as long as his sausages don't start smelling up the streets of Chicago today, or he might get all worked up 😬

and try to give us a lecture on how meat is murder. 🧐

He could probably afford to be a little more flexible with the setlist—especially when he's playing territories he doesn't hit all that often—which is what most other acts actually do. But hey, this is Morrissey... as long as he's happy, right?👎

I honestly don't get this whole setlist—like, how does Throwing My Arms Around Paris even fit in there? And those other two are just so-so for me—Smiler with Knife and Kick the Bride down the Aisle I'm Not.

Also, hmmm—feels like he’s gearing up to give us some lecture on all those "deep" existential crises facing modern Americans... but honestly? I get what you're saying—but there's a massive difference between a greatest hits tour and a run like this, where they're actually pushing the new stuff. There are a few tracks I’m dying to hear that just aren't making the cut: November..., Ouija Board, Interesting Drug... plus about a third of the Your Arsenal album (which I'm still waiting on to arrive from Amazon), and then some newer ones like I'm Not Sorry and I Have Forgiven Jesus... But hey, all things considered, the setlist still has plenty of bangers.

So, I guess we just take it as it comes... as long as his poor sausages don't smell bad anywhere in downtown Chicago today, preventing him from getting all worked up 😬

and trying to maintain that moralistic political lecture about how meat is murder. 🧐

He won't, though; he probably inhaled too much smoke in the West Village, that famous veggie-friendly neighborhood 🤣 🤣
where they used to lead him around...

A little tutorial for tonight: it really wouldn't hurt if someone recorded 'Man Scandinavia' and 'Staircase at the University World Peace is None of Your Business Neal Cassady Drops'—they sound insanely good live. 🙏 🙏 I think I'm still feeling a bit lightheaded from the concert. 🙏

He’s such an incredible Morrissey virtuoso, seriously. What a show—the band was absolutely killer too! I remember when I first saw him—just seeing him walk out on stage looking so charming and commanding—it honestly hit me right in the heart. 👏 The vibe around me totally ruined the moment, though; the people nearby were just awful. So rude, constantly squawking and shoving, like "move over here" or "get out of the way."

But hey, Moz definitely didn't let me down! 😍 He even did a fantastic rendition of Meat Is Murder.
Was that a real tear during Smiler with Knife? Does anyone know the backstory behind that track—does it hold some deep personal meaning for him?

It wasn't what I was expecting; honestly, it was worse. I was surrounded by a bunch of freaks in the front row, including Julia... just weeping and wailing. Good grief, it felt like I was at a Lady Gaga show. The concert itself was a bit of a shocker... people were literally throwing up around me... even he looked surprised... It seemed like the crowd was just totally lost, not knowing whether they should be clapping or what. Morrissey doesn't look healthy at all... at least not to me.

Alright, the dust has finally settled on my impressions... The show itself was incredible. When he stepped out right in front of me, I honestly thought I was hallucinating—like someone had just smacked me upside the head with a frying pan. I actually felt a bit bad for the poor guy looking out at us from the stage, haha... I was just completely flooded with adrenaline. The only thing that sucked about the concert was definitely the crowd; they really managed to ruin the whole vibe and my memory of the night. It was basically a gathering of total psychos. I even overheard this one group arguing—some woman who got shoved in the front row was yelling, "Do you even know who this guy is?? He's been to a thousand Morrissey concerts and doesn't even pay for tickets anymore... don't you dare touch him!!!"

And yeah... surrounded by all that, I felt like I was part of some twisted cult. 🤦

Who was throwing up? Was that what Morrissey's comment "Are you ok?" or something like that was about? I noticed him reaching out his hand to someone in the front row at the end, too.

Anyway, I'm with you—the crowd really ruined the vibe for me. I always assumed the front rows would be the fun part.

He reached out to Julia, basically checking in to see if she was doing alright... Julia runs that True to You site and she’s been at literally every single show for ten years now... like, every single one. I was standing right behind her, too... he talks to her at almost every concert, so it made sense that he gave her a shoutout this time.

Anyway, what’s your take on how the crowd reacted once the video wrapped up and he came back out for the encore?

I hadn't heard of that Julia before—pretty interesting. I'm going to go ahead and Google her right now 😁

Honestly, the crowd's reaction felt a bit meh to me. If we hadn't known an encore was coming—like, if it wasn't already part of the plan—I would've said the energy just wasn't there to warrant playing more, maybe just a quick bow instead. That's just my take, though! I was at the Pips show about a week earlier, and now *that* was a crowd truly begging for an encore. This felt kind of lukewarm—the whole vibe from the audience, anyway. Just my two cents.

It honestly felt like it almost didn't happen... at one point, the keyboardist started to go for the ball throw, but Morrissey gave him this hand signal to hold off—like he wasn't quite ready to call it quits yet. It’s like when they leave the stage and come back out, they aren't even sure if they're actually going to play the encore. I think people were just left reeling from that video. Everything was such a standard, normal concert, and then suddenly that ending hits you. It leaves everyone totally disoriented. It’s like you're just out having a good time, and then suddenly you're staring at footage of some horrific disaster or mass slaughter. It ruins the vibe for me. Honestly, I just want to go home.🤦

They might have just come up to bow, not to demand more music. Maybe it's just me, but I was at Pips last week and THAT was the kind of energy that actually calls a band back. This felt lukewarm. The whole atmosphere from the audience side... just lukewarm. At least, that's how it felt to me.

uhm, it seemed to me like the crowd was maybe a little shaken up, or at least they didn't feel ready to go wild after those scenes =| when they were leaving, I honestly thought, "there's no way the crowd is calling you back after this, 75% of them need to pull themselves together first."
The crowd was lukewarm, but I think after Meat Is Murder, the reaction was about as strong as the weaker moments during the show. If I had to guess, half-experimentally, I’d say the video was probably responsible for that.

Well, after maybe the fifth or sixth song, once some older lady who spent the whole time cursing out the setlist and the delay finally headed home, I realized the people around me were reacting pretty well after every song. Not so much at the start, and they weren't exactly in the mood for singing, but I think the front rows (I was probably around the tenth row) are what gave me the impression the atmosphere was lukewarm. Honestly, I was jumping around harder than I ever have; I felt like a football hooligan after the concert 😁 but while jumping and singing, there were moments where I felt like an idiot because nobody else around me looked like they were seeing the same thing I was—f***ing god, Morrissey... 😁

The video projections playing during the warm-up before the prima ballerina—the legendary Morrissey—took the stage were something else.

5 Don't Dictate - Penetration
6 Edith Sitwell
7 Anna Sexton 8 Ding-Dong
8 Witch Is Dead 9
9 James Baldwin
10 Mrs. Shafflewicke 11 Charles Aznavour 12 Ethics-Ethics

12 Ethics-Ethics (maybe a comedy skit clip?)
13 Allen Ginsberg talking to someone?
14 Bullfighter Dies (was this a PETA thing or just some fan edit?)

Exactly! I totally lost myself in the crowd during the set—just vibing—but I didn't hear a single soul around me. Maybe people just haven't fully warmed up to the new album yet, or maybe it was something else... who knows? Honestly, I almost missed the first two tracks entirely because everyone around me was shoving and jostling and complaining. To top it off, I lost my friend in the crush, so I didn't even have anyone to share the moment with. 🙂

Yeah, you might actually be right about the video—I see your point there. Still, personally, I thought the ending had a great impact—nothing wrong with that!
I still haven't quite wrapped my head around those comments you made about the front row crew—Sandra Moore6, specifically—it was such an interesting thing to see! 😁 When I spotted those gladiolas and candles, I just thought—wow—what an awesome crowd! Honestly, being right there in the front row is just the best feeling ever.

Right at the front, you’ve got the die-hard fans—the ones meticulously mimicking the whole aesthetic, from the specific shirts and that side-parted hair swept into a quiff, right down to the loafers and Levisica. Since I was hanging out in the middle of the floor, I actually had a pretty killer view of the disco light show; we were bathed in blue, yellow, red, and crimson spotlights. Boz and Toby were tearing it up on guitar, and the drummer was absolutely powerhouse, especially during "How Soon Is Now?". And then, of course, there was the legendary Moz, who hit absolute perfection with his diction, vocals, and pure theatricality. The crowd was totally vibing with the performance; there were so many happy faces, and people were clapping and cheering so loudly that Mozz noticed and kept shouting "Fala, Fala, Fala..." back at us.

He doesn't look healthy??? Honestly, 90% of his peers would give anything to look that way right now. 😁

The concert itself was a bit weak, but if you're a true fan, Morrissey could sing wedding marches and you’d still think it was the greatest thing on earth. The man remains easily one of the top five live acts when it comes to pure theatricality—those exaggerated movements, the facial expressions, that vocal range... 😍

The setlist felt much more uneven than it did during that show in Chicago, but that's probably a byproduct of how rough the last two albums have been since that sweltering July day back in 2006.

By the way, I wasn't really paying close attention, so I missed the gladioli despite all those hardcore fans looking for them... just saw a few roses right at the start.
