So, I’ve got this old phone, and I usually move my photos over to my computer using a memory card 🀣.

Lately, it keeps telling me the card is full. I’ll just delete some photos to make room and then try the transfer again. But today, it’s acting crazy. No matter how many pictures I wipe from the phone, I can't get anything onto the card. It just keeps throwing a "memory card full" error at me. I don't get it at all.

Anyone have any ideas?

For the last few days, I kept getting notifications saying the card was full, so I’d just delete some photos to make room and try the transfer again. But today, no matter how many files I wipe, nothing will move from the phone to the card. It just keeps insisting the "card is full," which makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Any thoughts?

Just format the card...

Great. Now just walk me through how that actually works in plain English.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, look, look 🀣. I'll let you know as soon as I give it a shot, but I'm still exhausted right now, and this honestly sounds pretty intellectually taxing.

Thanks. Fingers crossed it works.

Thanks! Fingers crossed it actually works.

But seriously, don't forget to copy everything from the card over to your computer first, because nobody wants to deal with losing all their data, right?

It wasn't that I didn't know I had to do that, but my tech-savvy friend told me to save "that" from the SD card to my computer first... I'm going to play around with it now and let you know if it actually works.

Edit: Nope, I wiped everything off the card using formatting. Now I'm getting "ROOT DIRECTORY IS FULL, CANNOT ADD IMAGES."

Look, you can either mess around in Disk Management and hope you actually know what you're doing... or just try making a folder on the card to stash your files. Oh yeah, when you check the card properties on your PC, how much space does it say is actually being used?

7.30GB free out of 7.39GB. The card says 8GB on the label, at least physically. But according to what my computer is showingβ€”I completely wiped it 🀷, totally empty, yet nothing will transfer over.

Edit: I just tried taking some random photos and managed to move all 10 of them onto the card. It seems to be working fine now.

Thanks for the help, guys! 😍

Hey, you might want to check if that card has one of those tiny little write-protect switches on the side that locks everything down.
