I've got this one device that has a standard plug just like ours, but there’s an extra third prong right in the middle. I was wondering if there's an adapter out there for this? Does anyone know what I should search for so I can actually use it? Thanks!

There are a few different standards out there—the first ones that come to mind are Italian (which uses three pins in a row) or Swiss (which also uses three, though the middle one is offset vertically)

Here’s a Wikipedia link so you can tell me which exact one you're looking at

What device are we actually talking about here, and where did you pick it up? Give us some actual, concrete details so we don't have to play a guessing game over here.

It’s about the heating element... Supposedly it’s from Switzerland, but I can't be totally sure... based on what George Sanders37 described, it should be this Italian one because the prongs are perfectly aligned and the middle one sits right in the center between them...

That third lead in the middle is actually the ground wire. If I didn't think this was a Peligran plug, I'd tell you to just check it with a tester. But honestly, my advice? Just cut it, swap in a standard US grounded plug, and call it a day.

You’ll probably have better luck finding an adapter in Italy than you will here—around here, you're mostly looking at a female US outlet to Italian male plug converter.
