Every single time I wake my laptop up from sleep mode, it takes about five minutes for the Wi-Fi to actually stabilize and stay connected. It’s honestly pretty frustrating, and I was wondering if there's a way to tweak some settings to stop this from happening... if it's even possible at all.

Thanks in advance!

What does it actually mean when you say your Wi-Fi is stabilizing? I guess—is it working properly once it wakes up, or is it still cutting out after sleep mode?

It looks like it’ll take about five minutes just to get everything back up and running. It feels almost as if it was stuck in sleep mode and is now struggling to wake itself up.
On my old MacBook, it was instant—it started working within a few seconds. I'm guessing that one probably wasn't even in sleep mode to begin with...

So, you just head over to the Device Manager, pull up the properties for your Wi-Fi card, and then—this is the key part—hit the Power tab and uncheck that little box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device."

I’m having a bit of trouble finding it... I managed to get into the Device Manager—though I’m honestly not even 100% sure if I clicked the right thing to get there—but once I'm in, I can't see that Power tab anywhere...

Also, I was wondering, what’s the actual difference between "sleep" and "hibernate"? Is it actually better to just shut the laptop down and restart it every few hours, or would it be smarter to just put it into sleep mode (or maybe hibernate??) and leave it like that all day if I don't want to deal with the constant booting up and shutting down...

Just expand the Network adapters section, right-click on your wireless adapter, and hit properties.

Thanks for the tip! I gave that a shot, but unfortunately, it didn't really change anything. Everything is still acting just the same as before...

Just go ahead and open up Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options, then hit EDIT plan Settings to get into those advanced power settings. You’ll want to hunt down the wireless adapter settings—just make sure the power saving mode isn't throttling you; set that thing to maximum performance.

Yep, everything is cranked up to the max.

I think there might be an option right under "allow to turn off"—maybe something like "allow to turn on"...? I'm just not sure if enabling that would mess with the battery life or something else, since there's a little warning message next to it

Just uncheck that "allow to turn off" box already.
