Need help with a new PC build

Here’s what I’m working with:
i5 4690k
hd7870
4GB Western Digital RAM
Intel Z97 gaming 5 Scythe Ashura Corsair GS600
Scythe Ashura
Corsair GS600

The issue is I'm getting zero beeps on startup and absolutely no signal on the monitor. If I remember correctly, the motherboard was stuck on code 15 when I was putting this together this morning... looking at the error codes now, it says "early north bridge initialization." All the fans are spinning up just fine, everything seems to be running, but there's no beep and no picture. Anyone have a clue what might be causing this?

Why don't you try running it without the RAM installed just to see if you get any beep codes?

Try booting the PC without the graphics card first. Maybe try plugging the GPU into a friend's computer to see if it actually works? If that turns out okay, then try pulling the RAM out and swapping it with some sticks from a buddy if you can get them. Also, make sure the heatsink is seated properly, and you could even try testing it with a different power supply... I'm just throwing ideas out here, so check everything I mentioned and let me know how it goes.

Did it function properly at some point, or has it been dead since you first put the build together?
I also noticed your RAM isn't actually on the official compatibility list. Looking at the Western Digital specs, they only seem to list the 8GB sticks at 1600MHz and the 4GB ones at 2133MHz.
If the memory ends up being the culprit, I'm afraid you might be looking at needing a new motherboard.

So, what BIOS version are we actually looking at on this board? You’ll need at least version 1.2 to get that processor to play nice with the hardware.
