Deleting messages and locking PDFs on Chinese mobile devices

+1 for reopening this, though you gotta admit, mod, you definitely went overboard!
Anyway, I saw a thread on another Reddit community about Chinese phones that suddenly blew up out of nowhere—just goes to show how much people actually need topics like this. 🙂
I won't dare mention which one, though, unless I want to end up getting roasted!

Here’s a suggestion, assuming they decide not to unlock the old thread.
We could actually set up three distinct threads instead:
- Chinese webshops—info, user experiences, discounts, and recommendations (though any blatant advertising or coupon spamming should definitely be sanctioned)
- Chinese smartphones—upcoming releases and news
- Chinese smartphones—comparisons and recommendations (based on the Mobile Comparisons PDF)

Everything else is honestly pretty awesome, but what’s the point when this forum's admin team is somehow 100x slower and more useless than some local DMV office?

I mean, seriously—we’ve got about ten different users arguing with a moderator's decision, and it’s been nearly 10 days without any movement? No official response, no explanation, nothing? They could at least lock the thread to keep things from spiraling!

Honestly, we might as well just shut down the "Sony Ericsson" subforum altogether—I mean, let's be real, the "Nokia" one isn't exactly breaking any records either. Especially since Nokia isn't even its own thing anymore (Microsoft snatched them up, right?). Instead of keeping those dusty old subforums around, why don't we just open a "Chinese Phone Brands" section? 😕

We really need to find a sensible way to distinguish "Chinese" brands from those that aren't—if that makes sense.
For instance, people tend to view brands like ZTE, Huawei, or Tele2fon—the ones sold through our major US carriers—as being "less Chinese" than something like Xiaomi or Cubot, among others.

I really wish you guys would just unlock this thread or start a new one. It used to be so much better back in the day—everyone was sharing news, swapping stories about their gear—but now? Silence. It’s frustrating. I’m planning on ordering a Zopo phone from China, and just like I said, nobody is saying a word over on that other board.
The thread got locked because the moderator apparently took issue with something—maybe we drifted a bit too far off-topic, but look, it's supposed to be a chat thread... can't you cut us a little slack??
Maybe assign a different moderator, someone a bit more flexible, more laid back... and move this current guy (no offense intended) to a different section, maybe something like Heavy Machinery or Tractors.
