Hey everyone!
I'm looking to put together a PC for some work involving AutoCAD (just 2D stuff), running simulations in MATLAB/Simulink (plus data processing), and obviously the usual—Microsoft Office, browsing, movies, and things like that. Definitely NOT for gaming.
Since I have some extra free time and really feel like building my own rig, I've come up with this setup.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or any advice you might have...
processor Intel Core i7-4770S Haswell 3.1 GHz LGA 1150 65W
cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212
motherboard ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI sat 6
memory Corsair DDR3 8
hard drive WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM 64MB cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5''
graphics card (integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600)
case Thermaltake Chaser A21
power supply XFX Core edition PRO550W
optical drive Samsung SH-224DB
around $1833
+ other peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard) = 8 - $3000
My goal is to have a machine that lasts me for several years. My last one was bought about 7 years ago and it still runs Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007, and AutoCAD 2006 pretty smoothly, so I've made sure to leave some room for future upgrades—specifically for more memory, a dedicated graphics card, and an SSD.
Thanks!
