Here is the situation. I am wondering if there is a speech-to-text program available. Something similar to the Jelly Bean keyboard on Android where you tap the microphone icon and it converts your speech into text. You speak, and it inputs the words. I guess I am not sure if I made myself clear, but does anyone know of one and where I can download it? I need it for the American language.

Thanks in advance

If you actually want to make this work, you’re going to need a high-end microphone too, just so Dragon can pick up your natural speech patterns properly.

nimbleskipper5: Thanks 🙂 Is there anywhere to download it for free?

Specialized coffee, I have a laptop though. I guess it might also type in American?

Nah, it doesn't support American English—well, actually, it doesn't support the language you're looking for at all. Look, if the software has a price tag, don't go asking where you can download it for free. It’s just common sense, really.

And honestly? I doubt a version like that even exists, mostly because the US market is so massive that developers usually prioritize much larger demographics first.

I suppose there isn't even any such software available since the American market is so small.

If you aren't sure, maybe don't be so rude. I actually found a cracked version of the program, so it exists after all. I don't see why I can't ask what I want; it isn't forbidden.

Oh, it exists. Of course it does.

I’m drinking a special coffee here and working on my laptop. Does that keyboard also work with American layouts?

That sounds good. Honestly, your best bet is to just head over to the Nuanac website and really dig into their documentation. I actually ended up downloading that software myself because I had this idea that I could make some decent money; you see so many people on sites like Upwork looking for transcription help, where they basically send you an audio file and you have to type everything out into a Word document. My plan was to just play the file the client sent and let the program handle all the heavy lifting automatically. But, man, it isn't quite that simple, because it turns out you need this specific, proprietary microphone that you can only buy directly from their site. If you try using a standard microphone, the program won't even work.

Actually, yeah, it is against the rules to hunt for pirate software links—you could've probably taken a quick second to read those few lines in the community guidelines.

Abraham Lincoln, wait, has nobody else realized that Google Voice actually supports Mexican? Honestly, it works just like American, it gets everything I say except for those little grammatical quirks, you know, like how it might struggle with certain regional slang or specific family terms like grandma and grandpa
